Meeting the real Rose

It was weeks after the event at the park, and all three of us have been hanging out, getting to know each other better. It was like a little group we formed.

Rose no longer hung out with the "popular" kids since her boyfriend and his loser friends were there. Her boyfriend soon got a new girlfriend, Emily. I was surprised, yet not surprised at the same time.

One day at lunch we saw them making out. It was disgusting.

"Ewww look at Jonny and his new whore" rose said, sitting with her lunch. She motioned to him and Emily making out at a table, with him aggressively grabbing her boob.

"Is he trying to swallow her?" Duke asked. By this time he'd gotten over Emily And was now completely questioning himself witch was normal for us.

"I think he's physically hurting her boob.." I laugh and look down at my sandwich, suddenly loosing my appetite. I push my plate back a bit and look around.

"Are we gonna talk about this?"

"About what?" I say,not meeting his eyes

"About rose being your crush."

"There's nothing to talk about. Cupid fucked up and tried putting us together but she just got out if a breakup so I'm not even gonna try."

"Julia...Julia!" Duke claps his hands in front of my face.
I snap out of my sudden flashback and look at him.

"Yeah?"

"Lest go." He says, getting up with me and Rose following. We walk to the courtyard, sitting down near the fountain that didn't even work anymore. We has wrote our names and shit on the side of it in sharpie, as most people did.
We had a few minutes before class, so we resumed a game we made up called: ask rose random questions to we can learn about her.

"Have you had sex? When and where? With who?" Duke asks, thinking he's being funny.
Rose shook her head. "No, I haven't. And ew."

We went on, asking more questions, learning about her. She's an only child, she wants to be an actress. Her ex boyfriend was her first and only boyfriend. She doesn't know her dad her mother is pretty much a helicopter parent. We couldn't get to any other questions because the bell rang. Me and Duke went to our class, and Rose went her way. We were walking in to busy hallway when he stopped me.

"Julia." Duke puts his hand in front of my and turns me to face him.
"Yes?" 

he gives me a look. a look that we both know. i know what he wants to say.  'what are you gonna do about rose?'

then his look changed. he looked..nervous? 

"ummm Duke?"

he heald my shoulders with his hands. he looked at me straight in the eyes. i had no idea what was going to happen.

"Julia. I love you."
