Mitchell Aiden Swan was 17 when he was told he was moving in with his father in Washington. No, not D.C.- the state of Washington, and in it was a little town called Forks, about 50 or so miles away from Port Angeles which is the nearest biggest city. Seattle was another 60.
Isabella, or Bella, Mitch's twin sister was something of the opposite to her brother. Where she was clumsy, he was athletic. Where she was.. cold hearted, Mitch was sarcastic, over-enthusiastic, and was what most would describe as a teddy bear.
Now, just because one says teddy bear, doesn't mean fat. Mitch was far from it, because he was in great shape. No, Mitch was warm, welcoming, and kind. Basically, he was the opposite of Bella. And it wasn't that Bella was a bitch or unkind, she just wasn't the person people would approach on a regular basis to talk to or be sudden friends with. If Mitch had to pick one word to describe his abnormal sister? Awkward would be the top choice.
Mostly, the only things the twins had in common was first, the inability to tan, and their matching dark hair and eyes. And even though the two were so different, they got along very well, besides the "occasional" brother-sister teasing moments.
When Mitch and Bella's parents (Renée and Charlie) split apart, the twins were just babies. They didn't really have a say throughout their childhoods of where they wanted to stay. Mitch was sure Bella would've stayed with their mom if she had the choice, and quite honestly, for years, Mitch wanted to live with his father, Charlie. That was, until Renée put Mitch in dancing.
He fell in love. Soon after dancing, came gymnastics, then football and basketball. He was lucky enough to be able to play while his sister seemed to not have such a gene for sports, because she didn't even make it pass dancing lessons. After a certain age, the visits with their dad started to become less, and less, until they stopped. Sure, Mitch felt bad, but he had a life, a job, friends, and hell- even a girlfriend!
But his whole life was coming to an abrupt stop.
Phil, Renée's new husband is a professional baseball player who has to tour around with his team. So, both Bella and Mitch agreed, they would rather stay with Charlie than tour around with Renée and Phil, moving from school to school.
And as they loaded up the car, Mitch had to pause, just for a moment to look around. He knew deep down he should've told his girlfriend to her face he was moving, but he couldn't do it. Yeah, dick move, right?
But he did leave her a note, having given it her mother earlier that day. Still a dick move to most people, but in his mind, he was saving a lot of people a lot of pain with not coming back, or leaving much of an explanation.
So, with that in mind, he got in the car, and waited for everyone else to follow in as well.

It was nice- Mitch's reunion with his dad. Bella's on the other hand? Awkward as hell. Mitch honestly didn't know how she was capable of being so inhumanly awkward, but she made it possible. He snickered half the car ride home about how weird Bella is, no matter what she does.
