Mitch was special to say the least. He could do things others couldn't. It was something that's been passed through the men in his family through his mother's side, and it was practically a miracle he got the gene because it hadn't appeared for three generations.
Bella didn't even know about her brother's powers, and he planned to keep it that way. He's been protecting her. And he's been practicing for years. It wasn't like Harry Potter, where you wave a magic wand and say some magic words. His magic was deeply rooted in his family.
His great-grandfather had told him the story of how the women were once born into magic as well, but when the daughter of the cult's leader committed suicide, claiming the pressure of magic was too much for her, the leader had cursed the women in his family to never have magic again. Of course this happened about a thousand years ago.
But his family hated the term witches and warlocks more than anything. That's not what they described themselves as. Castors was what they preferred to be called, because they cast spells.
There were seven families for the seven continents. North America's cult was spread about, the Higginbotham's were the ones who carried the bloodline through, which was Mitch's maternal side. The Europe cult was mostly resided in France, they were the Belmondo bloodline. The Australian cult was the Jones bloodline, so they were very difficult to find since it was such a common last name. The African cult was in Nigeria, and was the Eze bloodline. There was also the Asian cult, who was the Kao bloodline, most of which located in Vietnam. The South American cult was in Brazil, the Dias bloodline holding the magic there. Since Antarctica doesn't actually have indigenous population, the seventh bloodline were the Collins, which was in Ireland. All the cults are known to stay within their continents.
Thousands of years ago, the families were once apart of a clan that previously lived in harmony, that is, until the vampires found them out. The Castors had to flee to different parts of the world, eventually finding a home for each bloodline.
At the young age of seven, Mitch was told all of this by his great-grandfather who gave him a book containing spells, potions, and history, all of which in latin, a language of which he was forced to learn rather quickly. The elderly man died when Mitchell was then ten. He thought it was just the ravings of an old man, but then odd things happened to him, and Mitch knew this was no tall tale. So he studied every inch of the book so he would know it inside and out.
A part of Mitch's powers was the fact he could sense other supernatural beings. One time, when he was 13, he found a werewolf in Arizona and befriended him. Mitch wasn't stupid and he definitely knew there were dangers out in the world. Dangers that he had to protect his little sister and people he cared for from. He had to protect them from even the vampires included, the ones that his sister seemed interested in already.
Mitch had to admit, he was intrigued by them, and now he knew why. So now, he was going to do everything in his power to prevent anything from happening to his little sister. Mitch stood beside his sister, looking over her shoulder, to see that their next two classes were different because they were switched. Bella had Biology and later Spanish. He had Latin instead of Spanish, then later, Biology. He was honestly surprised the school even had Latin as a language, but wasn't one to complain.
