Bella leaned against the red truck, in a trance of sorts, reliving two days prior of the accident. Mitch was inside the truck, on the phone with his father about leaving very early this morning. Unfortunately, the boy hadn't come up with an excuse as to why he had gotten up and left at 3 in the morning. So he had to deal with those repercussions. "Look, Dad I know-"
"No! You don't know, Mitchell! What was so important that you had to take the truck and leave at 3 in the morning?" Charlie shouted. He had never yelled at his children before, mostly because he was worried if he said the wrong thing, they would leave him like their mother did.
"My friend! She was... Lottie tried-" Mitch paused, trying to calm himself from getting upset. "Charlotte tried hurting herself, and I went over to see how she was. I got the call at 3 and I wasn't thinking when I got up and left. I'm sorry."
The other side of the line was very quiet for a moment before a long sigh escaped Charlie's lips. "Alright. I'm sorry about your friend, Mitch. Just don't scare me like that."
"Yeah, I get it. I got to go, the bus is loading up for the school trip."
"Alright, I'll see you at home, kid." Charlie replies before hanging up the phone. Mitch crawls out of the truck, now standing in front of his sister.
"Hey, you okay?" Mitch places a hand on his sister's shoulder, tearing her eyesight away from Jasper Hale and Edward and Alice Cullen.
Bella looks up to her brother, meeting his brown eyes only for a moment before shrugging his hand off her shoulder. "Yeah, I'm fine."
Bella was very angry with her brother for refusing to tell her why he was conversing with the Cullens, what his relationship was with them, and what secret he's been hiding from her. Mitch was anxiety ridden with what was going to happen when his sister learns the truth. This isn't some secret from someone she just met like the Cullens, this was a secret that was hidden from her, her entire life from a familymember. Mitchell was stuck between a rock and a hard place, regardless of telling Bella or not, he is going to lose any and all trust from his sister.
Just then, Mike is suddenly standing in front of Bella and Mitch with a big smile on his face. Mitch rolls his eyes, looking to Bella, as if asking if she needed him to stay. Her brown eyes were begging him not to take a step further- regardless of whether or not the twins were angry with one another, they could always count on each other for something.
"Look at you, huh? You're alive!" Mike's voice was changed, mocking the sound of voices from those stupid movies where a monster or zombie suddenly appears.
Bella breathes a chuckle, slightly amused. "I know, yeah. False alarm, I guess."
"Um, now, I-I wanted to ask you, you know, if- actually, Mitch do you think we could have a moment alone?" Mike's eyes had kept wandering over to the girl's brother, rather anxiously. He was very worried the older brother was going to punch him in the face.
