It was the middle of the night, and Rey sat at a small table tinkering with the kyber crystal and few scraps of metal from what was once Luke's lightsaber. After the battle on Crait, the Resistance, or what was left of it, found a new base. She was plauged by dreams of her encounter with Kylo.
Even though she knew how the dreams would end, she always had a glimmer of hope that he would come back with her. Come back to the light.
There was still good in him. She knew that. She had seen it, clear as day when he killed Snoke and fought with her. She had gotten her hopes up.
Ignoring the tears in her eyes, she continued trying to make a lightsaber.
She felt someone watching her.
Not bothering to turn around, Rey asked, "Who is it?"
Not receiving a reply, Rey turned around, expecting Finn, Leia, or even BB-8.
She was not, however, expecting to see Kylo Ren.
