Chapter Seven

Artemis made a huge mistake. It all could have been avoided if she thought before she spoke. But no, Artemis had to open her big mouth and blurt out that she was going to the party with Wally in front of her friends.

The girls were out for ice cream as they normally did every other week. They talked openly to each other, about everything and anything. For the most part the topic remined on guys. Zatanna finally opened up to her own boy troubles.

"You guys know I've had a thing for Dick since freshman year." She explained. The rest of the group nodded in acknowledgement. "We flirted on and off, nothing too serious. Our timing has just never worked out. I liked him, but he was dating Barbra so I couldn't act on my feelings. Then when they broke up, I was already into John Constantine. John asked me out a jew weeks ago and I said yes, then Dck comes and explains his feelings to me and I'm so confused."

Zatanna put her head in her hands and let out an exaggerated sigh. "Our timing is just never right. I like Dick, quite a lot actually, but I have to wonder if it's even worth it to keep waiting."

"I say let him wait a little more." Artemis commented placing a large scoop of ice cream into her mouth. "He's my best friend and everything but he needs to see what he's missing. Maybe then he would wisen up."

"Can someone distract me with their problems?" Zatanna groaned leaning her face on the table.

"Well this isn't a problem but I want to tell you guys something." Megan chimed in. She seemed nervous by the way she swirled her ice cream back and forth in its cup.

"What have you been hiding from us?" Raquel asked her intrigued.

"I've started dating Connor." She let out a shaky breath only to look around and find her friends were not shocked in the slightest.

"We all saw it coming Megan." Raquel told her honestly.

"Yeah, you guys aren't as subtle as you think." Zatanna added.

"It was pretty obvious if you think about it. I'm pretty sure I saw you guys holding hands once. All I have left to say is nice choice, he's hot." Artemis said. They all knew she found Connor f***ing hot, but she was never going to act on it in a million years. For starters, she only thought he was cute and had no emotional feelings attached and now he was dating her friend.

"What about you Artemis? Is there a special man in your life?"

The blonde scoffed immediately. "Yeah right, who do you think I am?"

"What happened to that guy who tried asking you out at the end of last year?"

"His name was Cameron and he transferred like a week later." Artemis reminded them.

"What about Wally?"

"What about him? He's a constant pain in the a**" Artemis didn't sense the teasing nature of her friend's tone.

"Did you know that guys tend to be annoying to the girl they like to hide their affection." Zatanna said looking away.

"There's a couple of problems with that Zee. First of all, we are not 5 anymore so if he has anything he needs to say to me he can man up and do it. Secondly, don't even joke about that I'm going to throw up."

"Ok we get it, you don't like him."

"I don't understand why I agreed to go to the party with him." She grumbled under her breath. However, that didn't stop the three other girls from hearing her.

"WHAT?!"

"Excuse me?"

"Hold on!"

"You agreed to go to the party tomorrow with Wally?" Raquel asked in shock. Artemis nodded. "Why didn't you start with that then?"
