Chapter Forty One
Bonus Chapter One
"Wally do we have to do this?" Artemis complainined, resting her head on his shoulder. She was annoyed ever since Roy came to her apartment and woke her up early to ask for a favor. Then he gathered Wally claiming he needed both of their help.
"Come on, he's not that bad."
"Don't defend him."
"Well he is going to be your brother-in-law soon." Wally countered.
"Why did you have to bring that up?"
"Because you can't deny it much longer."
"I hate you Wally."
"Love you too Artemis." He even went as far as kissing her cheek. Artemis had a hard time keeping up her scowl after that.
Roy was planning on proposing to Jade, but first he needed to buy a ring. He brought Artemis along for help, and Wally to help Artemis go along with him. Even though she forgave him, there would always be some type of tension between them.
"Can you guys help me decide between these rings?" Roy called out. He was already in the store, going straight for an attendant and looking to get to the point and get a ring. Wally and Artemis were lingering near the doorway because she was complaining about having to be in the same room as Roy.
"We're coming ok!" Artemis shouted at him, causing a few people to look over at them. One mean look from Artemis and they all averted their attention elsewhere.
"How long is this going to take?" Artemis mumbled under her breath.
"Who knows." Wally answered honestly. "Look at it this way, think of it as us spending quality time together."
"Fine, but only for you."
"You wouldn't want it any other way." Wally assured her. They walked up to Roy and looked at the selection of rings he had the jeweler take out.
The first ring was simple, a thin gold band with a simple yet stunning diamond. Artemis had to admit that he picked out some good choices. If that was the case she wondered why she was even there at all.
The second ring was similar to the first, a rose gold band with a large pearl surrounded by tiny diamonds. It was definitely a classic looking ring. And the last was silver, with an intricate design going around the edges with one large oval shaped diamond surrounded by a few circular cut diamonds.
"Which one do you guys like?"
"Well good job for not finding a flashy ring, that would have made Jade say no on the spot." Artemis commended him. "I could see Jade proudly wearing any of these rings. The pearl one is classy, and unique. The last one is a more generic and looks like something you would see other people wear, the patterns on the side are attractive though. And the first one is simplistic and rustic."
"So which one are you choosing exactly?"
"I say go for the one with the pearl." Artemis suggested.
"I was going to say the gold one with the diamond." Wally contradicted.
"And I was thinking about the silver one." Roy pinched the bridge of his nose. "Great."
"It's fine we just need a tie breaker." Wally patted Roy's shoulder, always finding the silver lining of the situation. They asked the jeweler for their opinion.
"Based on what I've overheard about the woman you are buying it for, I would say the pearl ring. It's different, unique and seems like it would fit her personality."
"I'll take it." Roy said, reaching for his wallet.
"Glad we settled that quickly." Wally laughed. Once Roy paid for the ring, and had it securely placed in a velvet box, Wally had to ask the most important question. The ring was just the first step in their journey.
"So, how are you going to going to propose?"
A/N: Yes, it took me about 2 weeks to write something this short. I'm going to write 2 more bonus chapters, one about Artemis and Wally first moving in, and the last about them in the future after they get married. They'll all be short (not as short as this) but relatively shorter than a regular chapter.
Which ring did you guys prefer?
