Emotions. They had no rightful place in this bedroom but the room seems to be saturated with them none the less. Elle ended up in the spare room at Alec's. A month had passed since Gifts fiancé broke the news to her and ousted him on social media. It was a blessing and a curse in someways. They both got to go there separate ways and Gift got to live his truth but that dull knife of pain still hit her when ever she heard their song in the radio or smells sandalwood, which has of late had caused her to run out of bath and body works in tears. She was a mess but no one expect her to be sane at a time like this, and for that she was thankful.Watching Waiting to Exhale and chewing the giant bowl of extra butter and season salt popcorn, Elle is amazed by the way Gloria keeps throwing herself at her obviously gay ex-husband. Alec burst in right as he told her about his sexuality, leaving her stunned and confused. A look of denial spreading across her round face. Sympathy for her is immediate, knowing that learning that there was different side to your man that he kept hidden from the world and even himself was heartbreaking. Simply shaking her head she diverts her head to Alec as he foot tapped nervously on the floor.
"You just peed on the stick, chill out."
"That's easy for you to say, you haven't been messing with unemployed dîck." Nibbling her pinky nail she begins to pace again, as if the repetitive movement would let her go back in time to take her birth control.
"I don't even see why your on birth control, I don't trust that shit." Elle thought that the female productive system was perfect the way it was, it didn't need to be tampered with. Practice safe sex was easy enough that she personally didn't have to do all of that extra shit to keep from getting pregnant.
"If I wasn't this would have happened much sooner." Getting up from her nest of blankets she wraps her friend in a warm hug. Alec sobs slightly, hanging on to Elle like an anchor.
"What am I going to do with a baby?" Her words are muffled in the folds of her sweatshirt causing them both to chuckle lightly.
"You'll raise him or her. I know you always wanted this picturesque nuclear family but you can't always get your way." Alec's cellphone timer goes off and she jumps with a start. They make eye contact both looking at other to see who would go see the results first. Before Elle can take a step, her phone begins to ring and ding with a text message at the same time.
Eric's number popped up on the screen making her palms immediately damp with nervous perspiration. They hadn't spoken since that night at her apartment and the she hadn't been to work since the whole fallout with Gift and his little boy toy. Alec finally manages to trudge her way to the bathroom as Elle picks up on the fifth ring. The line was silent but she could hear his breathing. Her eyes close on there own accord.
"I though you at least send flowers after you got what you wanted." His chuckle is dry and she could almost see the cocky smirk on his face.
"We got what we both wanted, but I am sorry for reaching out to you sooner. My child's mother has had me ripping and running lately." Nibbling her lips she simply nobs but face palms at the fact that they were talking on the phone and not face to face.
"Well that's understandable." There was an awkward lapse of silence and Alec's shout of joy could be heard through the line causing both of them to burst into a fit of laughter. Elle looks back as her friend comes skipping out of the bathroom pressing play on her IPhone so that Cardi B's Best Life blared through her speakers. Eric pulls the phone from his ear, looking at it quizzically before smiling at the foolishness he was hearing.
"I want to see you today. What ever you want to do we'll do." Elle looks away from a twerking Alec trying to process what he'd just said to her.
"Like a date?" He chuckles, putting the phone down to pull a shirt on his freshly lotioned body.
