Desperation wasn't a feeling that Elle was used to. Things had changes in the weeks since Eric's baby's mother threatened him. He was distant and easily irritated. She knew he wasn't intentionally trying to hurt her but every time her attempts to comfort him or just show him some affection were brushed off, her heart broke. So instead of mopping around the house she decided to dive back into work. No need to continue to make herself available to a man who made it clear that he didn't want her around. The current state of their relationship reminded her too much of the bullshit that she'd been through with Gift and she'd be damned if she'd let another man take advantage of her like that again. The office was quiet as she waited for her last client of the day, luckily he was a childhood friend and seeing him would surely brighten her mood. There was a knock at the door and she couldn't help but jump up and hug the man before her. Canaan hadn't changed a bit since their college days. His hair was cut in his signature Caesar . He sported diamond encrusted gold bottom grill on his otherwise flawless teeth that practically sparkle against his chocolate skin . He smelled of Versace Eros. She couldn't lie. He looked good."Long time no see. I was starting to think you forgot about me hermosa." He looked her up and down smiling approvingly. He was such a Gemini. An incurable flirt. But she was a libra so they were in the same boat.
"You'd never let me forget you, so please just tell me how could you use my services."
A suggestive look flickers in his eyes as he takes a seat as she perched on the edge of her desk. Her thick legs were crossed at the ankle. Her shapely thighs filled her crimson pencil skirt out to the max and Canaan could feel his arousal rising.
Elle has and would always be the one to get away. They met in college and messed around but stop shortly after he'd made it clear that he wasn't looking for anything serious and probably wouldn't be for a really long time. She took it relatively well and stayed friends with him. Although she still found him attractive she knew that Canaan and commitment would never correlate. He was a lady's man through and through. Little did she know he wanted her to change that.
"You know my music career is going well in LA, but I'm becoming home sick and my abuela isn't getting any younger. I need to find a home suitable for her. Wheelchair friendly, good neighborhood, but also kind of private. I don't want to cause any problems when I build my studio and start getting noise complaints. I hear your the best in town so I'm sure you can handle it."
Elle nods passing him a folder of some nice properties she scouted after his call last week. He can only chuckle at how prepared she is.
"Is Josephine going to be okay. I can't believe she's really in a wheel chair, seems like yesterday she was chasing us out of her kitchen for dipping in her pots." He laughs placing a hand on her knee. Her stomach erupts in butterflies and he smirks at the way her thighs clench together.
Elle is mortified at her reaction. But pushes it away as simply that: a reaction. And had been damn near a months since Eric touched her let alone slept with her. But the current that she felt go up her spine and the way her panties dampened was worrisome to say the least. Maybe it was time to pull the rose out to take the edge off. Yes she'd technically cheated before but she'd never betray Eric simply because he was being distant. He was still home every night laying next to her. Until they were through, she would respect him and herself. No matter how tempting this man was. She stood quickly detaching herself from his warm hand.
"She is strong, that hip replacement was tough on her though so I'm staying in town until she's healed. She needs to be surrounded by family at a time like this." Elle nods, trying not to make eye contact with him. This reunion was bringing up old feelings for the both of them and guilt began to eat at her.
