Chapter 14

I finished hanging the last Christmas decoration on the tree. The doorbell rang.

"Honey can you get that? I'm in the middle of cooking the ham!" Mum yelled from the kitchen.

I opened the door and hugged Dad and Brittany as they came in. We exchanged gifts and all sat down and had lunch. After lunch we all sat in the living room listening to Brittany's pregnancy battle stories. She was half way through a story when the doorbell rang. I looked at Mum. We weren't epecting anymore guests. She nodded towards the door and I got up to answer it. I was surprised and confused to see five boys that I hadn't seen for six months.

"What are you guys doing here? In Australia? At my front door?" I asked, completely bewildered.

"Nice to see you too!" Louis joked. "We were on a promotional tour and your mum invited us round for Christmas. Mind if we come in?" I ushered the boys into the house, still confused. I thought that I would be angry when I saw the boys but instead I was actually kinda... happy. I had missed them so much.

The day went off without a hitch. It was so good to spend some time with the boys and it reminded me of all the fun times we'd had in the apartment together. I felt all emotional so I stepped outside for some air.

I sat with my back against the outside wall of the house. I had my eyes closed but I could feel someone walking over and sitting down next to me. I opened one of my eyes to see who it was. It was Harry.

"Hey," I said tiredy.

"Hey, the boys and I were going to head off soon, so I thought I should come out and talk to you. You know, clear the air between us."

"Harry, there is no air to clear between us. I stuffed up. I stuffed up bad and I lost you. But that's my fault. I'm not saying that I'm glad it's over between us because to tell you the truth I hate it. I miss you like crazy but there's no going back now."

"What if there was a way to go back?" he asked. I looked at him confused. "Come back to London with me Jaida. We can start again. We can be together. Everything can be how it was before."

I smiled sadly. "I can't Harry. I can't pack up and leave. This is my home now."

Harry shook his head. "No Jaida. This is your home." He picked up my hand and placed it on his heart. "This is your home. It's where you belong and one day, you will come home. I know you will." Harry dropped my hand and went back inside.

I sighed and looked out to the horizon. Maybe Harry was right. Maybe one day thing would work out. But who knows? Only time would tell.
