Nightmares
••••••••••••••••••••••
Lydia knocked softly on Stiles' front door. She hadn't been there in so long- not since they had broken up.
She's seen him, and they've been normal friends trying to solve problems and all- but she hadn't come over his house as frequently as she used to.
Lydia looked down at everything she was wearing and sighed. She knew how terrible she looked, with her pale complexion from the lack of sleep, and the fact that she forgot to put makeup on.
She rubbed her eyes- which were swollen from crying- and crossed her arms for warmth as the door finally opened.
Stiles looked at Lydia with a confused expression as he saw her at the door.
"Lydia?" Lydia looked up at Stiles with a sad expression. "I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep and I know that it's early but- I needed someone to be with. My house is empty and I can't sleep when there's no one there..." She said biting her lip.
Stiles smiled slightly. "Cmon in." He said, pulling her inside and closing the door behind her. As he turned around to her, he noticed that her eyes were red. He looked at her concerned, stepping towards her.
"Lydia? What's wrong?" He asked. She shook her head looking down as a few tears started to escape her eyes.
"I keep having nightmares about her. About Allison. I just... I can't believe she's actually gone..." Lydia said looking down, tears starting to come out of her swollen eyes.
Stiles' face dropped from a look of concern to a look of sadness. "I know Lydia. It's shocking to all of us." He said, opening his arms slightly.
Hesitantly, Lydia walked towards Stiles, and buried her head in his chest, sobbing loudly. Stiles wrapped his arms around her, rubbing her back in slow fluid movements.
"I know Lydia. It's okay. I know how it is losing someone close to you." He said. She sighed through her sobs. "Who have you lost?" She asked softly.
Stiles cleared his throat, pulling back the wave of emotion that this person made him feel every time he thought about her.
"My mom." Stiles said softly. Lydia looked up at Stiles, sadness in her eyes. "Oh my god I'm sorry Stiles. I didn't mean to- well I just forgot that-"
"It's fine Lydia. I've learned to live with it." Stiles said cutting her off, looking down at her and smiling softly. She smiled before sighing and backing up.
"I... I should probably get going now..." Lydia said, not yet letting go of Stiles' embrace. Stiles looked down at her worried.
"Lydia... You can stay here. I know we aren't together anymore and everything but you have to know that my dad is always excepting of you coming over- especially when your parents are always gone." He said looking down at her worried.
She shook her head. "Stiles it's fine. I'm okay-don't worry. I just needed someone to talk to." She said.
Stiles looked down at Lydia. "Lydia I have a feeling that it's a little more than just crying. You look like you haven't slept in ages. What's wrong?"
Lydia sighed and shook her head looking down, knowing that she would have to tell the truth.
"The nightmares... I normally wake up during them so I haven't really gotten much sleep. Don't worry it's ok. It's just harder when Im home alone that's all."
Lydia kept her head down. She wouldn't dare tell Stiles about how she's screamed herself awake more than once because she knew that he's been through something just like that and didn't want to remind him of it.
