Mark's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~It was after second period, art was next. Art was kind of like a sort of free period for me. I could draw, sculpt, or paint whatever I wanted. I guess I never noticed until now, but Jack was in my art period. I took my seat at my desk, which was near the back corner. And practically as soon as I sat down, Jack walked in. He saw me at the back of the room and flashed a small grin my way before sitting down. Mr. Hanson passed out our sketchbooks, and said it was free-draw. I smiled a bit and took out my pencil. This was one thing I really loved to do. I looked around for something to draw. I preferred to draw things I saw in reality, rather than my mind. Trust me, I don't think putting my thoughts into drawings would be the best idea.
Then Jack caught my eye. His blue eyes locked with mine for a split second before turning away. I gripped my pencil tighter. I turned to my sketchbook and flipped to a blank page. Starting to draw, I kept glancing up at him, hoping he didn't notice. I started off with a rough sketch. Then, as the hour wore on, I got into the details. His river blue eyes, his pale skin, his small dimple, and his bright green hair, tucked neatly behind his ear. After about forty five minutes, I had finally finished. Resting my tired wrists, I stretched, lay back in my chair and closed my eyes.
"Mark?" My eyes shot open as my legs slipped and my chair started to fall back. I was about to smack into the ground, when someone grabbed my hand and pulled me back upright. I looked up to see who it was. A familiar face looked down at me, worried. Jack. "Are you ok?" He asked. I nodded. "Y-Yeah, you just startled me, that's all," I replied. For a few moments, we just stared at each other, not really knowing what to say. His eyes trailed downwards to my desk and noticed my open sketchbook, with the drawing of him. "Did you draw this?" He asked, pointing to my book. "N-No! I mean yes! I-I mean- I just- I don't know! Just please don't think I'm weird!" I blurted. He cocked his head, giving me a funny look. Then he started to laugh. "I don't think you're weird, ya doofus! That's a really good drawing!" He complimented. I blushed a bit. He... likes it? He doesn't think I'm a creep?
"Actually..." He started, looking away, a reddish tint appearing on his face. "I drew you as well..." He mumbled, handing me a piece of paper. I looked down at the paper. It was me, in a more cartoonish style. At the bottom of the page was his signature, a small JSE scrawled at the bottom of the page, with a small green and blue eye drawn best to it, and under that, words that said FOR MARK. "It's for me?" I asked, looking back up at him. He nodded, trying to keep his cool. A small smile slipped onto my face. I grabbed my sketchbook, tore out the drawing of Jack, and left my signature, an M with a pink mustache over it, and the words FOR JACK. "Then you can have this!" I said, handing it to him. He took it, smiling. We both just stared at each other again, for what seemed like eons. Eventually, the bell rang, breaking my eye contact. He blinked, as if waking up, then smiled. "Wanna walk to lunch?" He asked. "Yeah, sure!" Closing my sketchbook and putting it back in my bag, I watched him walk back to his desk.
I can't believe this. One day broken up with Yami and I'm already in love again.
