Jack's POV
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Grabbing my jacket and a small umbrella, I ran out into the storm after Mark. He kissed me. He actually kissed me. Why? Why kiss me? I mean, I knew he was bi, or gay, I don't know, but he liked me? That makes no sense. I shut myself off. I built walls. And Mark.... was bringing them down. He was the only person in years to even attempt to break them down. He liked me. It would kind of explain the constant mumbling, blushing, and him always acting nervous around me.
But he liked me. Did that mean I was allowed to like him back? Would he hurt me like she did? He couldn't be capable of hurting people. He was perfect.
But where was he?! I had to find him, what if he got hurt? Oh god, why didn't I just tell him I liked it?! It's been my first kiss in ages, and it was amazing, I didn't even understand how to react. But I do now. I need to find him, before someone else. I need to tell him.
"Mark?!" I yelled into the rain. "Mark, where are you?!" I was walking around aimlessly, with no idea of where to go, or where he was. "Mark please! Come back!" I was acting frantic now, fearing he might not come back. "MARK!!!" I screamed. Thunder roared in unison with my voice. Then I heard it. It was faint, but I heard it. A small cry, a whimper of fear. Mark!
"Mark?" I called loudly. I ran toward the source of the cry. "Mark is that you?" It was a small forest behind some of the houses. Someone was in there. And I knew who it was. "Mark, you there?" I asked calmly. Hearing no response, I walked closer. Lightning flashed and thunder boomed once more, causing Mark to cry out again. I walked around one of the trees to find him with his back to the tree. He was soaking wet, head on his knees, hands covering his ears, and shaking. "Mark," I breathed. He flinched, looking up at me. His eyes were red, presumably from crying, and he looked frightened. "J-Ja-" he stammered, but I cut him off.  Pulling my jacket off, I draped it around his shoulders, and knelt down next to him. Pulling the umbrella out of my pocket, I opened it up over us. "J-Jack, I'm s-sorry-" "Mark, if you had let me talk earlier, I was going to say that you didn't need to apologize for anything," I said. He looked surprised. "W-What?" I looked over at him, a small smile playing at my lips.
"So, you like me or something?" I asked. He blushed as red as his hair. ((Yeah I know earlier I may have said his hair was blue, but it's red now, and until he changes it again, it's just gonna stay red)) "Um, w-well, kinda," he mumbled. I felt my heart twinge. "That's funny, you know?" I shrugged. He seemed confused at my words.
"The thing is, for the past, I don't know, five to seven years, before I moved here, I shut myself off from people. Nobody even wanted to get close to me. And then, you came along. I'd seen you in the halls before, with your friends, and you looked so happy. And then I catch you getting shoved out of a van, and later that day, find you crying on the roof. And after that, you even wanted me to sit with you. You were the only person in years who actually wanted to get to know me, to get closer to me. And then I nearly pushed you away, in fear that I might get hurt again.
"But you," I murmured, putting a hand on the side of his face. "You made me feel like I could trust people again. Like I could love someone again. I realize now that I can't deny myself any longer. Mark, I... I..." I struggled to say it. "I love you Mark." He stared at me in awe. Slowly, a bit unsure, I leaned forward, so that our lips were only inches apart. Giving in, I cupped his face gently, and kissed him. He seemed shocked, but kissed back, putting his arms around me. That same spark I felt when we first kissed was reignited, and brighter than ever.
After what seemed like hours, we pulled apart. "Jack, I... I love you too!" Mark said happily, that lovely smile coming back to his face. "Then let's get you back inside, ya doofus," I laughed. I got up and pulled Mark to his feet. Jesus, he's still so tiny oh my god. (SERIOUSLY HES SO SMOL) Keeping the umbrella in one hand and putting my other arm around Mark's shoulders, we walked back home. The storm thankfully started to clear up a bit, so Mark was less scared.
When we finally reached the house, I went and got a towel for Mark, he was soaked to the bone. (I swear if people make undertale references again XD) Once he was dry -well, mostly- I gave him some dry clothes and told him to come downstairs when he was done. While I was waiting, I flopped on the couch and switched the tv on. There was a documentary about space playing. The TV must've been loud, because 3 minutes later, Mark came flying downstairs, dressed in the clothes, wet hair flying everywhere, looking excited. "DID I HEAR SPACE?!?!" He yelled. I turned to see him smiling like an idiot. "Yeah, there's a space documentary on TV. Wanna watch?" I asked. He literally ran over and jumped on the couch, and stared at the couch in happiness. "It's so pretty," he whispered, starry-eyed. (ha, pun) "You really like space, huh?" I said, looking at him. He nodded. "It's the coolest thing! There's so many stars, and planets, and moons, and it's all so pretty! I mean, if there was a program for volunteers to go into space, with like one hundred percent chance of dying, from death by space, I would be first in line if they needed brave volunteers! Or stupid volunteers! I would be there so fast!" He was getting really excited. (Yes, I just quoted his space song) I just chuckled. "Wow Mark. You should be an astronomer." He looked away from the TV and grinned at me. "That'd be awesome!" He exclaimed.
I laughed and pulled him closer. I started messing with his wet hair. "Your hair's kinda weird," I commented. "The good kind of weird, right?" He asked. I snickered. "What do you think?" He shrugged and snuggled into my chest. God he's like a small puppy. Smiling, I slowly pulled the blanket hanging over the side of the couch over us. I think he fell asleep. Not long after, I did the same.
