Chapter 4

Somehow, I managed to get him out and far enough away from the house without getting caught. I propped the mysterious man up against the tree and slapped him.

"What the hell was that for?" he said waking up annoyed.

"I ask the questions here, first off, who are you and what were you doing there?" I asked, demanding answers,

"Who does look like I am, the tooth fairy? I'm just like you and I was in there for the same reason you were."

I rolled my eyes and continued, "who sent you and what's your name."

"You'll find out soon enough princess."

Disgusted, I replied, "excuse me? I am anything but your princess." Not knowing what else to do, I decided to call Mike, who finally picked up after the 5th ring with a groggy "Do you realize what time it is Aspen?"

"It's late I know, but I have a situation, some other "assassin" here thinks he's better than me and tried to kill my target."

"Who, Derek? Yeah he's your new partner."

"I'm sorry what?" I said in disbelief, "Derek? Partner? With me?"

"Yes, Aspen that's what I said."

"I don't need a partner, much less this guy"

"Get used to it because he'll be around for a while." And with that he hung up. I turned around in shock to find Derek leaning up against the tree, free.

"So, are you finally satisfied princess?" he smirked,

"Shut up" I turned away and started my trek home, I wanted to get as far away from this man as possible

"What a way to treat your new partner, I feel so welcomed"

"As far as I'm concerned, you are not my partner." I shouted and ignored everything he said next as I walked away.

I was so glad when I finally reached my destination. I rushed up the stairs, not even bothering to wait for the elevator and barged into my home. I followed my later routine and got directly in bed.
