As soon as I stepped into the empty elevator, I saw Derek rushing towards me. I pressed the buttons repeatedly wishing, "please don't make it here. Please don-" but of course, he made it in as they were closing. "What do you want now?"

"I just wanted to see if you're okay, you seemed pretty spaced out in there."

"Why do you even care? Anyhow, I'm fine and it wouldn't be any of your business anyways if I weren't." luckily the doors opened and I could end this conversation, "oh and meet me at the location at 2 a.m., don't be late." Before he could say another word, I left and headed to the café across the street for a quick snack.

Once I arrived home, I decided to sleep away my problems even though I had essentially just woken up. As soon as midnight came around, I got ready, put on my usual attire and lounged on the couch until it was time to go. When I arrived on site, Derek was already there, "you're late" he said. I rolled my eyes,

"let's just get this over with." Surprisingly, for our first job together, it was well done. We each took down two men and while I retrieved the package, he had my back. We were in and out in 6 minutes and no alarms were set off. After we went back to the office and turned in the package, but before heading our separate ways he asked me something,

"Hey do you want to get some pizza first?" I was about to refuse even though I was hungry, but then my stomach grumbled and gave me away,

"Fine, but onlybecause it's pizza." He laughed and we went to the shop around the corner. Therest of the night was enjoyable and I didn't feel like punching him the entiretime. I was exhausted once I got home and I immediately crashed with the thoughts of the night in my mind.
