Chapter 5

When morning came around, I remembered last night's events and my mood was ruined. "At least I don't have to go in today and see him." I thought. I wandered around my apartment and thought about how my life had ended up here. My mom, Priscilla Richardson, was the one who had started up this business. She never really told me how but I knew better than to ask questions. Mike had been her assistant, but soon he earned a spot under her wing. Everything was going fine, she was taking out any competition and making sure it all looked like an accident. Up until karma struck and she was killed by her own people, we never found out who though. The police ruled it as a tragic accident and of course only few knew the true story. However, this was all in the past and I wasn't going to let some bad memories make my morning even worse. I decided today was going to be the day that I treated myself. Getting dressed and grabbing my jacket, I headed out.

My first stop wasgoing to IHOP for breakfast and as soon as I enjoyed some buttery pancakes, Iheaded out. The next stop was mall. Yeah, I know, I don't seem like the type ofperson who goes to the mall for fun, but the truth is I am. I mean haven't youever walked in and been engulfed by the smell of Pretzels orthe food court in general. Looking around, I decided to go watch a movie first before enjoyinga meal. I wanted to laugh so I chose a recent comedy, bought myself alarge bag of popcorn and settled down in the dark theater. The rest of the daywent by in a flash and soon it was 6:00 and I was lounging on my couch watchingmy favorite show. 

This had been such a relaxing Sunday and I wasn't ready to gointo work tomorrow, especially since I had to see Derek. Determined not to letthat ruin my night, I pushed those thoughts to the back of my head and focusedon the show. When I reached the end of my marathon and Netflix gave me the judging"are you still watching" message, I decided it was finally time to go.
