Severus' POV

It is the summer holidays and Hogwarts has finally been fully rebuilt with a few extensions. I am returning to my teachers position as Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher. Draco Malfoy is to be the new Potions Master when he gets his diploma. Until then Slughorn is the Potions Master and head of Slytherin house. I am now the Deputy Headmaster at Hogwarts allowing Minerva McGonagall to tale her rightful place as Headmistress.

My owl Thorn has brought me the morning daily prophet. The business takes money from my vault once a month for my subscription. So my own owl delivers the paper instead of one of their own. I gave Thorn a treat before he allowed me to take the newspaper. Bratty bird. The front page says this:

Marriage Law to Repopulate our World

The wizarding population suffered a huge decline because of the war with You-know-who and his deatheaters. The population has dropped by forty-two percent. While everyone else has been rebuilding our world, the ministry has been thinking of a way to repopulate our world. Eventually the head of the Marital department came up with a solution.

All witches and wizard between the ages of seventeen and thirty will marry & produce at least children. A form will be sent to all witches and wizards affected by this new law. Which has been called Marriage Re-population Law. They are required to fill these forms out and send them to the ministry Marital Department as quickly as possible.

Anyone who lies or does not follow the rules of this law. Shall be punished, either by imprisonment or banishment from the wizarding world. Along with the forms will be a pamphlet of the rules for this law. I wish you all a good day.

Helena Lovejoy head of the Marital Department at the Ministry of Magic.

Well at least it doesn't concern me I think to myself. Just then a barn owl flies in dropping a letter and envelope onto my lap. I see the ministry seal and frown at it. Why was the ministry writing to me? I ponder as I use my wand to open the letter first.

Dear Severus Snape,

I am sure you've read the Daily Prophet this morning and know of the new marriage law. Even though you are Thirty-seven, we at the Marital Department have noticed you have never had a spouse. So we have come with a decision, that this new law also means you. The form and pamphlet are in second envelope. We expect you and who ever you are paired with to have at least one child. If you have any questions send a letter to my deputy Lucas Crawly.

Hope you are well,

Helena Lovejoy Head of the Marital Department

How dare they try to control my life I think angrily. I'm tempted to burn both the letters and pretend I never read either one. When Dumbledore appears in one of my paintings. "Why do I have a feeling you had something to do with this?" I sneer waving the letter.

"Now Severus you have sacrificed a lot for this war and you deserve happiness. I knew you'd never marry someone willing and have a child. So I may of give Minerva a nudge to speak to Kingsley. Who spoke to Helena Lovejoy" he says, his eyes twinkling.

"And if I refuse?" I ask him.

"Forfeit your magic and be banished from the wizarding world" he says smiling.

"Fine, but if they find no one for me to marry will you drop the subject?" I ask him.

"Of course, I look forward to seeing you back at Hogwarts for the new term" he states before leaving. No doubt returning to McGonagall to tell I was going along with the stupid marriage law. There were several pages I had to fill out. The first page was my basic information; height, age, parents, hair and eye colour etc. The next pages were questions on all the subjects I took in school; Potions, DADA, Charms and Transfiguration etc. The final page was about my hobbies and what I look for in a life partner. Once they were all filled out I give them to the ministry owl, that had not left. It takes the envelope holding the filled in forms and leaves. I return to reading the Daily Prophet like nothing had happened.

(Granger household) Hermione's POV

I could never return my parents memories so I left them to continue their new lives in Australia

I could never return my parents memories so I left them to continue their new lives in Australia. With their new adopted daughter Rose. I now live in my childhood home alone, I kept on studying. I was excited when news came saying Hogwarts was reopening. Ginny, Neville, Luna, Dean, Seamus, the Patil twins and I were returning to complete our final year. Harry and Ron have started training to be aurors and are not returning to school.

Ron and I broke up, realizing we are better off as friends. Neville and Luna had only broken up recently. Anyway Fred and George's joke shop has thrived, they are in the process of opening a second shop in Hogsmeade. Fred was badly hurt during the battle at Hogwarts, but Madame Pomfrey stabilized him long enough to be taken to Saint Mungo's. It took him a month to recover, but you could swear he was never hurt. Same with Tonks and Remus who are happy raising Teddy with Andromeda (Tonks mother).

When I read of the marriage law I was annoyed beyond relief. But I didn't complain as I filled out the forms and sent them to the ministry. Now I am patting Crookshanks as I read the pamphlet on the rules for the new law. I can't wait to return to school next week and forget about the new law for awhile and focus on my studying.
