Christmas at the Burrow

Hermione's POV

"Are you ready Severus?" I ask as I brush my hair.

"Yes love, remind me again why I have to go to the Burrow?" he says exiting the bathroom buttoning his shirt.

"You're my fiance and your present is at the Burrow" I state. "Besides it'll be fun, just talking, opening presents and lunch. Then we return to your house" I assure him.

"For you, not them" he says kissing me gently. I finished doing my hair and we went down for breakfast with the Malfoys, Andromeda, Lupins and Fay. We then did presents, but Severus and I aren't exchanging each others gifts until we're at the Burrow.

"Thank you for the perfume Narcissa" I say smiling.

"Of course and thank you for the vase" she says smiling.

"So will we see you at the Burrow?" I ask Tonks.

"No, we're going there for dinner after going to an auror lunch" she states. We say our goodbyes and I apperate us to the Burrow. Molly pulls me into a strong hug when she opened the door to greet us.

"Now we're just waiting on Ron and Pansy" she states. I greet the others while Snape shook a few hands. They soon arrived and joined the rest of us in the living room. Where I am sitting on Severus' lap.

"Ron, Pansy glad you could make it" I say smiling. Ron looks a little unsure until Pansy places a hand on his shoulder. We then start to hand out presents. "Severus this is from me" I say handing him a red present with a gold bow.

"Trying to turn me into a Gryffindor?" he asks jokingly as he unwraps it. He opens the box to reveal a black leather bracelet with a silver otter on it. "I love it, thanks Mia" he says kissing me gently making me blush. "Here's the one from me" he adds handing me a green wrapped present with a silver bow.

"Trying to turn me into a Slytherin?" I mock as he puts the bracelet on.

"Of course not darling" he says sweetly and I unwrap the present. I open the box to see a beautiful white gold necklace with a black pendant. That had a picture of a doe on it and the word 'always'. "I'll always love you" he whispers in my ear.

"Help me put it on" I say handing him the box. I hold my hair out of the way as he clasps it around my neck. He kisses my cheek gently and I put my hair down. "Pansy I this for you" I tell her and hand her a gift. "I thought it would help with your research for your book" I state.

"Thanks Hermione, this will help a lot" she says smiling at the book about how to defend yourself from dark creatures. "I didn't know what to get you, so I got this" she adds handing me a gift. "I heard your cat is half Kneazle, and I thought you might want a full one" she states as I take off the lid.

"It was nothing, you can name her" Pansy states.

"Severus, what was your mothers name?" I ask.

"Eileen" he states.

"I hear by dub you Eileen" I tell the Kneazle.

"I'm honoured Hermione" Severus says smiling.

"Who wants lunch?" Molly asks then goes in the kitchen with Fleur, and Ginny.

"Go help Mia, I'll look after Eileen" Severus assures me. I thank in and stand placing Eileen on his lap. Mrs Weasley had me help set the table with Ginny. No doubt wanting to get to know Pansy more. It was an uneventful lunch.

"Hermione, I just want to say something" Ron states. "It's no secret I was not thrilled with you being paired with Snape. But I see he makes you happy and that's all I want for you is to be happy. So I support you both" he says smiling.

"Thank you Ron, actually Severus and I have an announcement" I tell everyone.

"Are you pregnant?" Audrey asks.

"No" I say blushing. "We're engaged now" I state lifting my hand so they could see the now visible ring.

"So the date went well then" Arthur says as Harry smiles. We get congratulated and then it was time to leave. "Hermione, Severus" Arthur calls walking over to us. "Just thought I should tell you, the order is having a new years eve party at Grimmauld place" he states.

"Well be there Arthur" Severus assures him and we return home with Eileen. Crookshanks seems to not mind her and she seems to like him. We leave them alone and go put our presents away. "So what now?" he asks.

"I say we relax and enjoy this free time" I state. "No doubt when newspapers start being delivered again our engagement will be on the front cover" I mumble. Rita Skeeter has been sentenced to three years in Azkaban in a room that lets nothing out unless they head a wand and knew how to disable the spell. But Severus and I are still one of the most talked about couples. Along with Harry, Ginny, Draco, Fay, Ron and Pansy.

"You're probably right" he states. "Why don't we go read a book by the fireplace" he suggests. That's what we did for the rest of the afternoon while Eileen and Crookshanks slept in front of the fire. We then prepared dinner together with a glass of butterbeer each. Afterwards we prepared for bed and crawled into his. We've recently been sharing a bed, just to sleep not anything else.
