Tara sat in her bedroom, propped up on pillows... her diary and fluffy Tigger pen in hand. She tapped the end against her forehead as she tried to put words together to describe how she was feeling. She sighed as she heard the lyrics to the song that seemed to be stalking her. She blushed as she recalled how she'd stared at Bobby when it had come on in the elevator earlier in the day. She put pen to paper and wrote it down.
i hear the ticking of the clock
I'm lying here the room's pitch dark
I wonder where you are tonight
No answer on the telephone
And the night goes by so very slow
Oh i hope that it won't end though
Alone
Her nights moved slowly... they had for a little over a year now. She rested back into the pillows, one hand against her lips as she remembered the feel of his lips on hers. Darcy had left and he'd stayed behind. Stanley had stuck around for a while... but after a half hearted attempt to get her to relocate to the Atlanta office... had finally issued the 'Maybe we should just be friends' speech she had received so many times. She'd been puzzled at first... until he mentioned that her heart didn't seem to be part of their relationship anymore. Tara hadn't slept a wink that night.... Trying to work out where exactly that put her and Bobby. She went to work, resolute that they shouldn't be alone.... It wouldn't be good, if they were alone.
Till now i always got by on my own
I never really cared until i met you
And now it chills me to the bone
How do i get you alone
How do i get you alone
She turned to a new page in her diary and sketched out what a perfect evening with Bobby would be. An evening where she could actually take a serious moment and tell him .... Show him how she really felt. The question was when. Tara had gotten tired of making excuses to avoid coffee time with him. The excuse that she had a cyber something to track down wasn't going to fly for much longer... they were almost done with the case. She smiled as she read her dinner menu, and her mind drifted to the dress she'd seen in the store window. Maybe she'd buy the dress tomorrow at lunch. Tara set her diary aside as she pondered her finances. She had enough money... maybe courage would come with the dress and she'd feel bold enough to walk up to him... drape herself over his desk and lean towards him and say.... Tara closed her eyes and gave a sharp laugh. Who was she kidding? She'd go and do all of that... just because some cute little dress was hidden in the shopping bag under her desk and all she'd be able to come up with would be a 'I want my stapler back.' Tara sighed and grabbed the diary again and began to write her frustrations out on paper.
You don't know how long i have wanted
To touch your lips and hold you tight
You don't know how long i have waited
And i was going to tell you tonight
But the secret is still my own
And my love for you is still unknown
Alone
She wondered what he was doing. She glanced at the clock, it wasn't too late in the evening and she'd thought he was going to play pool with Jack tonight. She wondered if he ever thought about her at night, her dreams were haunted by him... when she was actually able to fall asleep. His eyes followed her wherever she went, she blushed at green lights... at the green of a Starbucks sign.... At the sight of the cucumbers in the grocery store. Even now, when she closed her eyes, all she could see was how his eyes had held a decision right before he brushed his lips across hers. His eyes had darkened to a deep green and she had barely been able to breathe. Her breath caught in her throat as she squeezed her eyes shut and desperately recalled the memory of his eyes.
