(Unknown POV)

I wake up to a shaft of sunlight shinning through the cave entrance. I yawn and stretch out my arms and legs. I sit and quickly run my fingers through my blond hair to dislodge any twigs or leaves. I try to keep my hair short, but it's currently halfway to my shoulders. My clothes are ripped and a little small. I only get new clothes when a cabin is abandoned, or I find some that were left in clearings. I get up into a crouched position and peek my head out of the cave.

I see my mother dozing in the sun with the rest of my winglet. A winglet is a group of dragons, by the way. They're all cold blooded, so they usually move outside at sunrise and sleep till the sun is at its peak. I don't need to though, because of how different I am. I'm pretty sure that I'm adopted, but mom won't admit it, and I shouldn't ask. I see our wingleader sleeping by a boulder on the side of the clearing. He's the leader of our winglet. No one disobeys him.

I duck back inside and grab a handful of sharp rocks to take with me. I then exit my cave and quietly slip out of the clearing. Two sides are rock walls, and the other two open up to the forest. I pick up speed as I get farther away, sprinting underneath the trees. Everyone else usually flies to be fast, but I don't have wings. I can run just as fast, though. I slow down pull myself up into a tree after hearing a far off sound. My hearing is just as sharp as my mom's. I patiently wait as the minutes tick by. I then jerk my head to the left after seeing movement. A small, brown rabbit is hopping out of the brush to nibble on a dandelion. I quietly pick up one of my rocks in my right hand. I take carful aim, and fling it at the rabbit with all my strength. The rock hits the rabbit square in the forehead, killing it instantly. I hop down and go over to my kill.

I quickly learned that eating all the organs or even the raw meat made me very sick. So I grabbed the rabbit and put it in the tree I was just hiding in. I'll come back for it later. I leave the area and head towards the stream that I can hear. When your part of a winglet, you always have to hunt for more then yourself. I don't eat very much, but I'm happy to help with whatever extra I can catch. I wade out into the water and crouch down. I only really fully stand up when I'm running, because otherwise I'm always in the verge of falling over. I keep perfecting still in the rushing water. Some dragons say my hunting technique is silly, but it works for me. I wait until a good sized fish swims just a little too close, and I strike at it as fast as an adder. It flops and squirms in my grasp, but I quickly use a stone to kill it.

I then leaves the river and retrieve the rabbit from the tree. The fish is for me, and I can give the rabbit to some one else. I head back to the caves, knowing the forest by heart. Although, mother always tells me not to go past the river. I wonder why? Part of me is always urging me to head in that direction, but my brain says that if mom is afraid of it, everyone should be afraid of it. But still...... what's out there that my heart is pulling me towards?

I shrug it off and run back home. I can hear the sounds of huffing and growling before I break from the trees. Mom sees me first, and immediately comes over to me. She's only about the size of a big deer, which is normal for dragons. She huffs a blast of warm breath into my hair and nudges my face. I make a cooing sound in my throat as a reply. I then hold up the rabbit and look at her with questioning eyes. She turns her head over to a cave entrance near the ground and in the middle of the cave wall. I nod in understanding and walk over to the cave.

I look inside to see three baby dragons playing with each other. Dragons only lay eggs every ten years, so the whole winglet works to protect them. They all squeak and clamber over each other while trying to get to me. Since I'm not very good at caching big animals, my rabbits are perfect for the babies. I coo at them and make sure that each one gets an equal amount of rabbit before I leave.

I then go back into my own cave to eat my fish. I've discovered that fish won't make me sick when I eat it raw, but I like it better warm. I move the branches I had stacked by the wall into the middle of the cave. He cave isn't very big, probly only fitting three adult dragons, but I like it. I pile the twigs together before bending over it. I take a few deep breaths, before I do it. My throat heats up, and I blow a small flame at the wood. The twigs catch fire and light up my cave. That's why I might not be adopted. I can breath fire like all the other dragons, not very much, though. And just like the others, if it's my fire, I can put it out. I roast my fish until the outside is a crunchy black. I then extinguished my fire while devouring the fish. I eat a lot of meat, but I found a few plants that I like. None of the other dragons like them, though.

I move to the cave entrance to just watch the rest of my winglet. It's very calm here. Every day is just the same as the last. I don't know if that's good...... or bad.
