(Unknown POV)

I duck back into my cave and set down the thing in the middle. Ash and dirt stain his skin and clothes. Why does he look so much like me? I've never seen anyone like me before. Our hair is the only difference, his being a really dark color and mine a light yellow. I poke his cheek and instantly jump back when he moans. He doesn't move, though.

He must be injured. Maybe he inhaled a bunch of smoke, too. I look him over to have my eyes stop on his ankle. It's swollen and has a purple-black bruise on it. That looks painful. I twisted my ankle a while ago, but luckily found a way to ease the pain until it healed. I went to the corner of my cave and grabbed strips of cloth from my old clothes that don't  fit me anymore. I also grabbed some leaves that smell really strong and fresh. The leaves cleared my breathing when I had gotten sick earlier in the year. I left them by his head and went down to wrap his ankle in the cloth.

I tried to be as gentle as possible, but I had to make sure that the cloth was tight enough. Not too tight. I learned that pretty quick when I almost lost a finger. I finished and stepped closer to his face. There isn't much else to do since we're both trapped in here for the moment. A shimmer from his pocket attracts my attention. Dragons are sometimes mesmerized by shiny objects, and I'm no different.

I reach into his pocket to pull out two hard things, and one flat thing. I unfold the flat thing, that doesn't shine, to see an above-view of the forest. It has landmarks that I recognize, but it's only a little filled out on this side of the river. The rest is mostly blank. I can see scribbles by the objects, but I don't understand them.

I move on to the round, hard object. It has a shiny outside that's a black color. It has and indent that I hook my finger underneath. The top flips open, and I jump back and drop it. I go back over to see one side with more scribbles and a little needle. The needle moves to point in the same direction when I turn it. The other side has colored things on it. My eyes widen when it clicks. They all look like me! Not as much the guy laying out next to me, but more then mom does. One of the creatures catches my eyes. It has the same hair as the guy laying next to me! He just must be younger in this picture. Two adult-looking creatures have six of what I'm assuming are their babies in the picture. My eyes drift back to the baby version of the guy I saved from the smoke. He's holding hands with another baby. They look similar, except for the other one having blond hair. I quickly tug out a piece of my own hair to make sure that I'm right. Yep, blond. I look back down at my patient. Did I know him? No way to tell till he wakes up. I'm still not sure if I can trust him.

I then pick up the last object. It's black and has a shiny surface. It's also very thin, but thicker then the first object. It suddenly starts vibrating in my hands. I resist the urge to drop it, and look at the side that's now glowing. Scribble had appeared at the top, with a green arrow at the bottom. I hesitantly put my finger on the arrows and drag it across the surface. Loud sounds instantly scream through the device. I pull it away from me before bringing it back when it got quieter. I don't understand anything that's being heard. It sounds like four different things, though. The loudest thing starts saying the same thing over and over again. I swallow and try my best to repeat it. "V-Vikk?", I say as my throat burns and struggles to make the weird sound. All the sounds from the object stops, and then one creature makes sounds with that seem like confusion. I frown and bring it away from my ear. I look at the surface and bring my finger down on a red scribble. The sounds stop, I put down the little box. That was really weird.

I return the two flat objects back to his pockets, but hesitate with the round thing. I instead stick it into my pocket. I sit against the wall and watch him breath. I then hear a faint drop from outside. Another comes, and it's soon raining outside. At least the fire is out. And my cave won't flood because the entrance is a few inches above the grass. I curl up in the corner and mentally remind myself to try and wake up before my new companion.
