CHAPTER 5

The meeting was as civilized as it could be; They assigned jobs, laid down ground rules, etc. I had chosen to become a runner, along with Minho and Newt. I'm glad that the only two people I know around here are going to be out in the maze with me. However, neither of them knew the other existed. They were almost polar opposites; Minho was strong and sassy, while Newt was sensitive and caring. I cared about both of them, but they're big boys. They can take care of themselves.

I was ready for the maze. Scared? No. Was I supposed to feel scared? Nervous? Nope.. well, maybe a little. Excited? Hell yes. It was day 2 at the maze; time to get my shit together. I grabbed my stuff and waited at the Southern wall for the others.

I saw Minho running this way and waved him over.

"Hey, big brother" I smirked, giving him a nudge in the arm.

By this time, we have all figured out how old we were- well, approximately, just about. Me? I'm pretty sure I am 14 years old; pretty young around here, yeah, yeah.

Minho grinned back at me and returned my nudge. "You ready for this?" He grinned and then mumbled, "I don't know why you even chose this job. You should've settled for something more lady-like"

"Oh please, I don't want to hear that from you. I think we both know that 'lady-like' doesn't suit me. At all" I replied, winking at him.

"Ooo, well, you're tough aren't you?" He winked back at me and we both started laughing.

"Very, that's one thing we have in common" I answered, still laughing.

"You're forgetting our sense of humor" It was true; we both had an unusual sense of humor, under this situation.

"Oh yeah? I'm funny, You're just sassy" I replied as I nudged him with my elbow, giggling.

Just about then, Newt arrived, his face red, as if he were embarrased. No.. jealous?
