Samantha Kane: Day 6
"Morning, Alli," The words popped out of my mouth before I realized I had said them. She was gone. One of the only people who ever truly cared about me, the love of my life, gone in an instant. It's funny how death works. It rips away the people you love most, even if you're not ready. I shook my head, I wasn't going to do this again, not today anyway.
I sat up in bed, the light from the star streaming in through the window. I lived in a simple house, with only two rooms. After having lived in a palace full of hatred for most of my life, I had decided to downsize. Was it legal for a 16 year old to own a house? I wasn't sure. Did I care? Heck no. The house was made of the same tacky plastic as the rest of this...world? I still wasn't sure what to call it. Everything here was foreign to me. Earth-like life, the gray dirt, the blue sky. On Kchaos, we had had a naturally gray sky, unlike the human-made Earth sky. I had come here by choice, unlike all of the Earthlings, who were forced here because of their rudimentary ways. I came here because there was nothing left for me on Kchaos, nothing but death and misery.
I pulled on a blue sweatshirt and jeans before tying up my black hair in a ponytail. I always wore long sleeved shirts to cover my scars. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. My purple eyes stared back at me.
Flashback
"How are your eyes so purple without you being albino?" Blue eyes looked at me so quizzically. Of course, Benjamin would ask that. It was a simple question, but I stuttered, afraid of answering, an irrational fear of mine as per my father. Of course, Allison noticed, her gray eyes ablaze,
"Benji, I know you're into science stuff, but leave my girlfriend alone! You act like you're five sometimes!"
"H-hey. It's okay baby. He was just being curious," I managed to get out. I put my arm around her, "And besides, I really don't mind. Benji's my friend."
She was slightly shorter than me and she rested her head on my shoulder,
"I know, but he should be more considerate," That came with a pointed look at Benjamin, who was standing, hands raised in surrender,
"I'm sorry, just don't go all 'Princess of Justice' on me, okay?"
I laughed. Alli's "Princess Voice" was really scary, even to me. I kissed the top of her head and grinned, I loved Benji and my girlfriend, they made me feel happy, even after the horrors of my life.
Flashback End
I found myself pulled back to reality by my stomach. It was growling, which meant it was probably time to eat something. I walked through my tiny abode and out the door, locking it behind me. I walked down the road-like thing the government had put up and to the "Dining Area", a glorified cafeteria where everyone got their food. I passed the government building, where people were milling around doing who knows what. I saw the line for food and sighed. This was another thing I was unaccustomed to, waiting for food. Even when I lived with my evil father, I was still a princess. Here was a chance to start over, to be someone else. To be unrecognized. To not be one of the hated Kchaons, as the Earthlings called the people there. I got in line, hoping to be out of there soon.
Time Skip brought to you by musicalstar_nerd (even though they didn't write this chapter)
I sat down at a fairly empty table. Many families chose to eat in their respective houses to experience some normalcy, but as I had no family, I chose to eat here instead. Today they were serving eggs and toast, something Benji had loved. I missed him a lot; even though he could be a pain sometimes. I ate slowly, not really tasting the food, thoughts focused on Alli despite my promises to myself.
