Felicity Hope Sanchez - Day 4
I was lounging on a sofa that somehow came with my house when there was a soft knock at the door. Hesitantly pulling off the soft blanket I had laid across myself for warmth, I slowly walked to the door, checking the security camera that I'd attached. On the camera, there was a fuzzy image of a little girl with pigtails and a denim vest.
I threw open the door.
"Alexia!"
"Felicity!"
We squealed each other's names, quickly embracing in a tight hug. I had to bend down to be level with my five-year-old cousin, but she squeezed me tightly, nearly making me fall over.
"What are you doing here?"
"My family got put on another continent, and I was hoping I could find you. Where's your dad?"
"Not living, here, thank goodness."
"Great!"
"Did you want to live here? I don't want you to be homeless already, we just got here!"
"Would I be a bother?"
"Of course not!"
"Epic Sleepover Forever!"
I picked her up, spinning her, both of us giggling until we collapsed.
"So where's your stuff?"
"I don't have any."
"Well, we're going to take you to get some new things. There's no currency here, so I don't have to worry about money, either."
"Yay!"
"I need to take you to meet my friend, Sadie. I just met her a few days ago, and she's really nice, although she's kind of sad, so be nice."
"What? I'm an angel."
Alexia put her hands under her chin, looking absolutely innocent.
"Yeah, whatever."
~Time skip (with shameless self-promo to @rissakan33 because yep)~
We got to Sadie's house, and Alexia practically came flying out of the car.
She rapped on the door hard, way more noticeably than when she came to my house. Her pigtails practically shook as she jumped up and down.
Sadie opened the door, looking annoyed. I was out of sight, although I could sort of see the two of them as I peeked from behind the wall of the porch.
"Who are you?"
"YOU'RE FELICITY'S FRIEND!"
"Okay, and how do you know that?"
"I'M HER COUSIN! SHE BROUGHT ME HERE!"
I walked up, giving Sadie a sheepish grin.
"Surprise?"
She rolled her eyes.
"More people? You know I don't like most people in general."
"But I'm not most people!"
I grinned, giving Sadie a she's-my-cousin-and-she's-fabulous-like-me look. Well, that's what I tried to pull off. It probably looked a little bit more like a ha-ha-ha look.
Sadie smiled a little bit. "I can see that."
"YEAH AND FELICITY'S GONNA GET ME A PHONE!"
"I actually came wondering if you wanted to come?"
I looked at Sadie hesitantly. Alexia started giving Sadie her trademark puppy-dog expression, and I knew we'd won.
"Fine."
~Time skip again because author is lazy.~
Alexia had picked out an old smart phone with a neon case. I grinned, grabbing the phone, and asking her what her number was. It came with the phone. I would've put mine in, but like most normal people, I don't memorize numbers. I just back my contacts up to storage of sorts.
She entered her number as 143-3350.
I called the number so that she could log my contact information is as well, but when I called her, her phone didn't ring. Instead, I heard an unfamiliar voice on the other line.
"Hello?"
The person, who was definitely a guy, sounded worn out.
"Hello?"
"Oh."
He sounded almost depressed, and my response didn't seem to help.
"Who is this?"
I could hear the scowl in his voice, as if it was a burden to be talking to me. Well, he could hang up if he really hated this.
"I'm Felicity?"
"Don't know you. How'd you get my number?"
"I was meaning to call my younger cousin, and somehow I got a wrong number and ended up here."
"Whatever. Bye."
"Wait! Can I at least get your name? I mean, we do live in basically the same place..."
"Gabriel."
I could hear a light conversation in the back. So he did have friends.
"Oh! I'm Felicity. Felicity Sanchez. Wait, I already said that-"
Then our time was up.
I frowned slightly, before seeing that my cousin and friend were still there. I put on a fake smile, turning back to them, although Sadie could tell. Her grin faltered slightly, before she turned back to my cousin. "Okay, why don't I put my number into your phone, and then you call me. Then, I'll text your contact details to Felicity?"
Alexia bounced up and down. "Okay!"
So that happened. And I now have the number of some random guy named Gabriel. I entered his contact name in my phone, although I don't quite know why.
We walked home, and I felt a weird sensation at my temple, although I didn't know why. Maybe I should ask someone else about it...
~Time Skip because idek anymore what's life~
I arrived home with Sadie and Alexia, and we all settled in. I couldn't help but notice that there was almost a tiny voice in the back of my head, telling me what to do, and chiding my thoughts of anything illegal, from pulling someone else's flowers, or grabbing another house.
Stay out of trouble, it said. Keep a low radar.
But another part of me rebelled. Screw this place. Life already sucks, and these rules are ridiculous.
No, they're meant to keep me, I mean you, safe.
Like hell that they are.
Shut up and go back to whatever set of broken neurons you came from.
And the other voice did. I sighed, relieved to no longer be hearing the chiding or the arguments. I grabbed a few blankets, draping them over Alexia, Sadie, and myself before letting consciousness flutter away from me, and drifting to the soft embrace of sleep.
