Cool (no pun intended) facts about Iceland:


- Iceland is the only NATO member country without an army, navy or air force.

- Iceland is home to the largest glaciers in Europe, as well as some of the world's most active volcanoes. It is widely known as The Land of Fire and Ice.

- 80% of the country remains uninhabited.

- McDonald's closed its last restaurant in Iceland in October 2009 at the time of an economic crisis. The last cheeseburger sold is currently on display at the reception of Bus Hostel which could also be viewed through a live video stream for those who want to see it decay.

- Starbucks cannot be found anywhere in Iceland.

- Tap water in Iceland is very safe to drink.

 - During the months of June and July, Iceland has days with full 24 hours of precious, beautiful sunlight. A lot of people in Iceland look at it as a good time to play golf. Some people have played golf during midnight Sun and have described the experience both surreal and sublime.   

 - Mosquitoes don't exist because it's too cold for them to survive.
