MADDIE COULDN'T STOP THINKING about joey liking her and calling her perfect. she just wanted to tell somebody about it, so they could feel the excitement too. her only friend's (the ones she could trust) as of right now were vanessa, luna, and loren but she couldn't exactly tell them. it was times like these where she missed steph.

maddie planned on explaining things more in depth with joey, so like every time, she went to go look for him. but before she could, she ran into steph. what are the odds?

"hey steph," she greeted quietly. she didn't know if she was still mad. she probably was since it was only a week since the incident.

"hi," steph replied quietly. "maddie."

it was already awkward for maddie, but she did feel bad for ditching her like that. she just wanted to show her that she could hang with vanessa and her group, but she didn't think she would lose steph in the process.

"i know you're still mad, i can tell," sighing, maddie decided that it was time to apologize. she needed steph back, she needed to rant, and she had so many things to tell her. "what i did was wrong, and i'm sorry."

steph's eyes widened. she couldn't stay mad any longer and this apology, was enough for her. "it's okay maddie. i missed you."

maddie couldn't believe what she was hearing. steph missed her, and she was happy about it. almost as happy as she was when joey told her he liked her.

"i missed you too," maddie admitted. "i have so much that i have to tell you."

steph smiled, glad that she had maddie back. "well that's good to hear. you couldn't tell vanessa could you?"

maddie shook her head. "nah, it's better when i tell you."

for once, it all felt just right. maddie had her best friend back, and joey liked her. she was practically on top of the world. as much as maddie wanted to stay and talk to steph, she had to talk to joey.

"look steph, i have to go talk to joey. it's urgent and i'll explain it to you later," maddie informed her redheaded best friend.

"okay maddie," steph laughed. "that's alright. if it's really urgent, you better hurry up and go!"

maddie nodded and then soon walked away, to go find joey. he was in class, she remembered. but because she's that type of person, she knew exactly what class he was in.

she practically ran to the classroom he was in. he was sitting on the other side of the classroom, but she could still see him from outside of the door.

she started waving and jumping, trying to catch his attention. the teacher didn't notice, but some other kid did. he nudged joey who then looked at maddie. his bored expression from class turned into a smile once he saw maddie.

she motioned for him to come outside. there was only one way to get out of class. ask to go to the bathroom. a classic!

he asked the teacher if he could go, and eventually he exited the classroom. he was suddenly so happy to see her.

"hey!" he greeted her. "what's up?"

"it's free period and i figured i'd tell you now," maddie grinned. "sorry i'm disrupting your learning. education first!"

"you're funny." joey started following her to wherever she was taking him. they walked together in the hallway, you know, the usual. "but i put you first, before anything."

maddie blushed like crazy. with flushed cheeks, she looked up to him and said, "same here."

she took him to someplace, in which she thought was private. it was away from most classrooms, the closest one was the band room, so it was deserted.

"so, care to explain?" joey questioned.

maddie cleared her throat. "well, okay don't judge me but, it's always been my dream to fit in with vanessa and be her friend."

joey didn't see anything bad about that, every girl was like that. "i don't think you need to fit in with her, you're better than her and her dumb friends.

maddie grinned from ear to ear. he's being so sweet, my heart can't take it.

"aw," maddie couldn't stop smiling, no matter how hard she tried. "but back to the explanation."

"go on."

"okay so i've gotten people together right, they call me the matchmaker. so when i ran into vanessa the one time, she was talking about how hot you are, and then she convinced me to help her get with you. i thought that this was my chance to be her friend." maddie felt weird now actually saying these words.

joey nodded. "so you weren't doing a newspaper article this whole time?"

maddie laughed. "right!"

they both smiled at each other until maddie went back to explaining. "so whenever i asked about vanessa, i was just trying to get you guys together."

joey understood and then began to speak. "are you still trying to get us together?"

maddie thought about it for a moment. "you know what, no," maddie said. "screw the plan, i really like you joey, and i'm not going to set you and vanessa up."

joey never smiled as much as he was right now. "that's what i like to hear!"

and with that, maddie laughed again. joey liked her laugh, as well as everything about the girl. he wanted nothing more than to just kiss her. that was what was running through his mind.

maddie looked into his eyes, and he finally did.

it was like the world and everything around them just disappeared as their lips collided. the kiss was slow and soft, just like it should have been. joey rested his hand below maddie's ear while she pulled him closer to her. she could feel his heart beating against her chest, well not literally, but that was just how close they were.

they both pulled away. maddie couldn't stop grinning, she was too happy. as for joey, it was the same. it may have been just a kiss in the high school hallway, but it didn't feel like that. joey felt something he never felt before, until now. with her, with maddie.

joey had been gone from class for about ten minutes now, so he had to go back as soon as possible. he didn't want to leave maddie though. she knew he had to get back to class.

"i'll see you later." he held her hand for about five seconds, as his way of saying goodbye, and then let go with a smile.

"bye joey," said maddie. she tried to play cool, but on the inside, she was screaming. she couldn't believe that that just happened. kissing joey birlem was like an honor to every girl in school. and maddie, she did THAT.

while she was happy and pleased with herself, she left the area and up to the library, where she was supposed to be this whole time.

all she could think about was,

when am i going to do it again?

a/n
