"I KISSED MADDIE ZIEGLER," joey admitted to his friends which they all saw it coming. charles and greg expected lucas to throw a fit and storm out of the cafeteria again, but to their surprise, he clapped.
they all were just trying to figure out when lucas got over maddie and hopped on the moey bandwagon.
"good for you man," charles replied. "proud of you."
greg laughed. "so will you explain to lucas what it's like to kiss maddie since he'll never know?"
charles hit greg on the shoulder.
"very funny greg, really funny," lucas sighed, and then went to eating his food. everyone knew that charles secretly found it funny and was laughing on the inside, but joey just felt bad.
"i'm joking," greg replied. "just joking."
yeah, okay. joey was clearly annoyed by greg, but nobody could notice. he didn't even know why he was still friends with greg, after he lied to him and maddie.
"but in all seriousness," greg started to say. "how was it?"
joey didn't want to answer that in front of lucas. sure lucas told him that he was over it, but maybe he was just saying that so joey wouldn't feel completely bad about himself. you never know.
joey ignored greg, but that only made him think about it. he still couldn't believe that he kissed her. it all happened so fast. he just wished it could've happened somewhere other than the school hallway.
"he's in love." charles and greg started laughing together. joey wanted to roll his eyes, but maybe charles was right. even though it was stupid to say it considering they were still young, joey agreed. he didn't say it out loud. he would never hear the end of it.
the bell rang and lunch was over. everyone left, except for greg who stayed behind. lucas was confused why greg was still there, but he didn't ask.
greg walked around to find vanessa. she was just leaving the cafeteria, when greg ran up and pulled her aside.
"greg! what are you doing?" she hissed, and greg didn't let it bother her. he was well aware of how rude she really was. "don't ever touch me again."
vanessa took a step back. she tried walking away again, but greg grabbed her hand and stopped her before she could get anywhere.
"wait! don't go, it's important," greg whispered, in a serious tone. vanessa still didn't care and her face remained blank as could be. "it's about joey."
then her emotionless face transformed into a more concerned one. that was the only way you could get her to listen to anything, mention joey birlem.
"what is it?" she questioned, although still angry that greg even touched her. she was disgusted and probably wouldn't get over it for a long time. "come on! tell me. you're going to make me late for class."
greg rolled his eyes. "you're lucky i'm even telling you this."
vanessa scoffed. "then tell me already!"
greg took a deep breath and said, "okay fine. so do you know a girl named maddie ziegler?"
"yeah!" vanessa nodded. "what about her?"
"well she told joey." greg internally cackled. he was about to enrage the scariest girl in school, and she was about to go off.
"told him, what?" she queried, a part of her already knew what she told him. she just needed to hear greg inform her himself.
"that she's matchmaking you and joey," responded greg. vanessa rolled her eyes.
"you're wasting my time." she started to walk away again.
greg was confused. "wait, why aren't you mad?"
vanessa exhaled. "so what if she told him? she's still going to get me with him anyways."
it was silent for a moment until greg finally said something. "well doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of matchmaking?"
vanessa then walked away from greg. she was annoyed with him. how dare he waste her time and make her late to class?
greg ran up to her, in front of her so she couldn't take another step. he remembered the kiss. it was his chance, his chance to start the drama.
"i spied on them and maddie said she gave up matchmaking. she likes joey!" vanessa heard those words and no longer tried pushing past greg. but instead, she grabbed his shirt.
"you better tell me everything you know or i will throw you across the room!" she was angry now, infuriated. greg was suddenly frightened by her, but deep down he was pleased. she was mad, she was really mad, and that was all he wanted.
"okay, okay!" she let go of him. "maddie said that she didn't want to see joey with you. she wanted to be with him. joey likes maddie and they kissed."
vanessa was shocked. "they kissed?"
greg nodded as the late bell rang. that only added to vanessa's fury. not only did maddie kiss the guy she liked after promising to help her get with him, but she was also late to class!
great, just great. vanessa thought to herself.
"that's it!" vanessa almost screamed. her face turned red, that was what really scared greg. however, on the inside, he was cackling. vanessa wanted to ask for proof, but that would only make her even more angry. "now that i think of it, she barely was getting the job done."
"what do you mean?" greg asked curiously.
"like she just stalled and said she got it covered, things like that. but now i know, she didn't get anything done!" vanessa grumbled, clenching her fists.
greg almost grinned. "joey told me they kissed, if that's enough proof for you."
"yeah, and you are a little stalker, so that's enough for me to believe," vanessa sighed. "i never thought i would say this but, thanks greg."
she was disgusted at herself for thanking him, but that only made him happier. annoyed that she found out about all of this and was now late for class, vanessa stormed away from greg.
good job. greg smiled.
pleased with himself, he walked to his class, also late.
as for vanessa, she had plans to ruin another person's life.
and that person was maddie.
