VANESSA DECIDED TO ACT like she didn't know what greg had told her. the best way at ruining someone's life, was doing it when they'd least expect it. vanessa only told loren -luna wasn't smart enough according to her- and already, both of them were angry.

maddie came and sat down at the lunch table, unaware that vanessa was about to fly off the handle and attack her. vanessa stayed calm and put on a fake expression.

"hey everyone." maddie sat down. loren almost hmpfed, but remembered that they were just acting like they were okay, that was the plan.

"hey," vanessa said smiling, a pretend one at that. but maddie didn't suspect anything weird going on. vanessa was actually a good actress and she wasn't even trying. great things come out of revenge, according to her. "how are things coming along?"

"great actually," maddie replied, clearly lying. she hadn't tried matchmaking since her and joey kissed, and she didn't plan on doing it anyways. she didn't want to tell the truth. well aware that vanessa would probably attack her, she kept it to herself.

meanwhile, it only disgusted vanessa that maddie wouldn't just come clean. even if she did come clean, she'd still ruin her life, but telling the truth was still better than making vanessa look like an idiot. just thinking about it, she clenched her fists out of anger and frustration.

who does she think she is? vanessa internally rolled her eyes.

"oh really?" vanessa questioned. "what?"

maddie almost gulped. to be honest, the whole matchmaking plan never crossed her mind once. she was too busy hanging with joey, thinking she was falling in love or something, so the idea of vanessa didn't even pop up once.

"i just have to convince him to like you, i think i'm almost done actually," said maddie, making up something. by now she had stalled enough that she was running out of things to say. vanessa nodded, annoyed and bothered by it. loren felt the same exact emotions.

vanessa examined maddie. liar. "okay, well, when do you think he'll like me?"

"soon! just a little more convincing and-"

"yeah, we know," vanessa faked a laugh. "but alright. thanks maddie."

maddie felt relieved. she saved herself again, or so she thought. but for now, she sat at their table without any awkward feelings. that was just how good vanessa was at acting. she could put on any fake expression and make it believable.

meanwhile, on their way to lunch, lucas and greg walked through the hallways. they were late, not that you could be late to lunch but you get the picture.

greg smiled to himself when he remembered what he told vanessa. he could trust lucas and he so badly just wanted to say, so someone could see how proud he was of himself.

"joey and charles are probably wondering why we're so late," lucas broke the silence. greg was in his thoughts, not even acknowledging lucas. greg nodded.

"true," replied greg. "but you're not going to believe what i did yesterday."

lucas stopped walking and looked greg in the eyes. "what did you do?"

his tone, it was like he was used to greg doing bad things and messing with basically every teenager in this school, even his friends. greg felt a tad bit offended. more importantly, he was still extremely proud of himself and nothing was going to change that.

"you know how joey and maddie kissed?" greg and lucas started walking again, turning the corner into another empty and quiet hallway.

lucas gulped, barely even able to speak. he didn't want to remember that or even know about it in the first place. "yeah."

greg then laughed as they reached the staircase. "well, i told vanessa that."

lucas was shocked, but he still didn't quite understand the excitement out of it. what was vanessa going to do, start another fight?

"okay and?"

"okay and?!" greg mocked lucas, who rolled his eyes. "oh wait, i never told you. i'll explain."

lucas shrugged and said, "go on."

"well you know how maddie and vanessa suddenly became best friends? yeah so, maddie was gonna help vanessa get with joey. but then maddie caught feelings for joey, they like each other, so they kissed." lucas dumbfounded, still wasn't getting it.

"okay, and?"

greg rolled his eyes and muttered an "oh my god, dude."

lucas sighed. "so is vanessa going to attack maddie now, like real bad?" he almost flinched when he imagined the girl he liked getting humiliated by vanessa, the school's queen that as well as joey, he hated.

greg nodded. "isn't that great though? and more importantly, i did that!"

lucas then shrugged again. "i don't wanna see maddie getting hurt."

"oh come on lucas," greg groaned. "you realize if vanessa ruins maddie, it's going to affect her relationship with joey and-"

"yes?"

"let me finish lucas. you always do this!" greg and lucas started walking down the stairs, to the first floor. "maddie will be all yours. wouldn't that be great for you?"

lucas thought about it for a moment. "well i guess-"

"see!" greg grinned. "now you get the point?"

"i do like maddie, but joey is my friend i-"

"lucas who cares about friends, wouldn't you want to be maddie's boyfriend rather than be friends with joey?" greg interrogated the poor boy who just wasn't as evil minded as greg.

"i don't know," lucas answered. he questioned why he was even friends with greg, but greg had a point. even if he was constantly stirring the pot, he was always right. well not always, maybe like ninety percent of the time. "why are you trying to cause trouble anyways?"

greg laughed. "it's just funny to me okay." they finished going down the stairs, opened the doors to the front floor, and started walking to lunch.

there were in a few people in the hallway, so greg now had to whisper.

"lucas, just help me out. i promise in the end you'll end up with maddie." greg couldn't do all of this on his own, he needed help from a friend. and as much as lucas was joey's friend, he wanted to be maddie's boyfriend more than anyone else in the world, except for joey who was number one, but that's not the point!

lucas just kept thinking and thinking, but greg eventually persuaded him in the end.

"fine greg, you win."
