2018: Goals, Growth, and Things to Note

Happy New Year, you lovely folks! It's a wild McKenzie back to confuse your souls with controversial plot twists for yet another year. That's right, it's 2018, so let me just slide in these news items:

1) Ya girl is a grown woman. That's right, December 29th marked my 18th birthday, and I'm officially a legal adult. (Though really, I'm just a slightly older lump.)

It was pretty fun, and I had a good time despite the way the latter half of 2017 unfolded. It was nice to spend time with my loved ones and eat good food together (cause you guys know how I feel about food).

2) January 23rd starts my second semester of my first year of university, and I'm seriously considering picking up a literature course (Introduction to Drama) or a theatre course. I have two open choices, and since my uni only offers the Spanish course I wanted to do once a year, I have an open option. Tell me what you guys think.

3) I discovered BTS (방탄소년단) and yes, I know what that says, because between the boys and all the K-dramas I've been watching, I decided to start teaching myself Korean (Hangul). So far, I can read it (albeit slowly) and pronounce it, but without the vocabulary, unless they're loan words, I can't tell you what it means 😅. Either way, I'm finding it tricky but interesting, and who knows, I might end up being good at it. We'll see. And hit me up if you're Korean 😊

Anyway, back to this little update of mine. This year, I've decided to set a couple goals regarding this story, and I need you guys to help me stay on track, while remembering I'm a full-time student, part-time writer. Here goes:

Goal #1: Update more frequently (no less than twice a month). This will be difficult, but I'll do my best.

Goal #2: Expand the fan base and get more people reading and interacting with the story. For me, I'm still pretty shy when it comes to sharing my work anywhere other than on Snapchat and Instagram, but I'll try to work on it from my end, and I really need your support.

Goal #3: Make Instagram maintenance and interaction a priority. I'm managing the joint account @kenzikabooks (go follow) by myself at the moment, and I may need help coming up with content to post as well as posts about new chapters, quotes, holidays, etc. Feedback is key, so let me know how else I can improve.

Goal #4: Finish the damn book. It's been a lonngggg time. August marks five years since this idea first hit the block, but worry not, I'm not rushing myself. It just gets a little dejecting when I can't write and editing makes me feel like this novel will never be good enough. I still dream of getting published one day, but it's a process, and I must respect that. Be patient with me please.

Goal #5: Hit 50,000 reads. Y'all, I would be all kinds of elated. I've seen the power of readers, how this novel went from 5000 reads to 30,000 in the space of less than a year. Y'all are crazy, but I love it.

That's just a little snippet of my expectations for this year. I hope you guys will continue to support me in 2018 even more than last year. Let's keep climbing to higher heights, everybody.
