Max quickly looked sideways at El, whose face had drained of all color; she was shaking her head 'no', her worst nightmares come true. They both received nudges from rifle barrels and started following Brenner towards the entrance. Whilst the outside was obviously still being worked on, the inside had clearly been restored to its former 'glory'. They were escorted to a large lift that descended slowly for a minute or so, all the while Max could feel El shaking next to her so she squeezed her hand to remind her that she wasn't alone.
As Max squeezed her hand, El's shaking just got worse. She didn't want reminding that, on top of being forced back to Hawkins lab by her 'Papa', the person she was in love with was there too. The thoughts running through El's head about Max's potential fate were scaring her more than anything.
The lift stopped and they were nudged forward by the guards. They followed Brenner, and a couple of other white-coated 'scientists' who joined them along the way, till they reached a large, white-tiled room. In the middle were 2 chairs, a couple of meters apart, facing each other. One had restraints, the other not.
"Sit" Brenner said to Max, indicating the restraint-free chair. She did as she was told knowing how serious the situation was and that she was no match for armed guards. "Eleven, sit down" he said, putting his hand on her back and gently guiding her to the other chair. "Don't worry about the restraints, they're just there to protect you from hurting yourself" he said in a convincing tone. El nodded slightly and sat, not resisting as white-uniformed orderlies strapped her in, far tighter than was comfortable max noticed.
El did nothing but look at Max's face, "I'm so sorry" she blurted out for all to hear.
"Silence!" said Brenner loudly just as Max opened her mouth to reply. He was stood behind El, so only Max could see when he beckoned to an orderly who was stood by a silver trolley bench at the side of the room. He wheeled the bench over, on it were some scissors and clippers, but also some sort of stick with 2 prongs at one end. Max couldn't work out what that was. "Eleven, sit still while we prepare things, I wouldn't want you to get hurt."
The orderly picked up the scissors and took a large handful of El's hair, cutting it off unceremoniously. It took El by surprise as she'd been unable to see what was going on behind her, but as soon as she realized she started struggling against her restraints and shouting "NO!" repeatedly.
Max couldn't just sit and watch, but as she jumped up from her seat she was shoved straight back in it and a gun pointed very close to her face as a warning. As El saw this, she only struggled harder, friction burns already apparent on her wrists. Brenner realized she was in danger of losing control, despite his warnings about what would happen, and he nodded at the orderly who grabbed the strange black stick. Flicking a button, it hummed into life, ribbons of electricity flowing between the prongs, and without hesitation he shoved it onto El's back. Max watched as she spasmed and screamed in pain, unable now to control her muscles, and as he removed it she was rendered unconscious.
"Continue" he said, looking Max in the eye and smirking slightly. "When you're done, take her to the holding cells" he said, indicating to Max, "and Eleven back to her room." With that, he took one last look at El and left the room, followed by his scientist cronies.
For the next 10 minutes, Max had to sit and watch them cut, then buzz El's hair, till it was less than a centimeter long. She watched through tears, distraught at what was happening.

"Fucking shame" said the orderly to one of the guards, "I can't believe how hot she grew up to be, but she still looks pretty good" he added, pulling El's head up from the slumped position she was in in order to look at her face properly.
"Yeah, can you believe these two are together though" the guard replied with a disgusted look on his face.
"To be honest, that sounds pretty hot" said the orderly, leering at them both and making it clear what was going on in his mind.
"I bet we could straighten at least one of them out" another guard piped in, making all the men in the room laugh and leer at them both. Max felt sick.
"Come on, bitch, time to go" said the first guard, dragging Max up roughly and shoving her towards the door. "Time to settle in to your new room" he added with a smirk. He grabbed her arm and marched her down multiple corridors until they came to a heavy looking locked door which had an armed guard stood outside. "Guest to check in" her guard joked, making the other chuckle.
Are you fucking serious? What's wrong with you people!? Max thought in disbelief.
The door was opened and she was marched to the room at the farthest end. She could see through the window that it was small, square, and grey. The furniture consisted of a small bed with a thin blanket, and in one corner, with a short wall to preserve her modesty, were the 'facilities'. Nothing else. The guard shoved her inside roughly, "I'm gonna enjoy guarding you, pretty little thing, and like I said, I'm willing to help straighten you out any time." He walked towards her slowly with a glint in his eye and all she could do was back up against the wall. As he got within a few inches of her, looming over her, he said "not right now though, babe, orders, you know how it is...but when things settle down, you and I have a date for 2 in here." He looked her up and down with an expression that she didn't even want to contemplate, and left the room, locking the door behind him. She slid down the wall and let out all the emotion she'd been trying to hold in.
