Chapter 30

Bonnie's POV:

That man, Josh, said that he was my REAL older brother two months ago. And that Maverick brainwashed me. Is it true? Is Josh really my big brother, not Maverick?

My dream shows me when I was three years old. I was walking through the castle until I saw Maverick.

"Grand frere! You're back!" I exclaimed as I was running towards him. He spread his arms to return my hug. Once I jumped, Maverick picked me up and swirled me around. I giggled and kissed his cheek.

Maverick was laughing, but then his laughter stopped. I look at his face with confusion. He was looking at something, behind me. I turned around, and there was a man. Well, I think. It was a shadow thing. I couldn't see his face at all.

"Petit, go to your room. I'll be there to play with you in a minute," my big brother said as he set me down. I got scared and hid behind his leg.

"It's okay, go to your room," Maverick cooed to me. I looked at the shadow man for one second, then ran to my room. I could feel the shadow man's eyes burning into my back.

And then, I was running to my room, the hallways were echoing. The voice didn't come from Maverick, the voice was coming from the shadow man. I stopped running, and turned back. I slowly creeped down the hallway and listened.

"Why did you take her away?"

"What are you talking about?"

"You took Bonnie away!"

"I didn't take her away, I'm taking care of her and still am."

"Don't lie!"

I'm getting scared. Maverick is going to die. I'm going to lose my big brother.

I peer from the wall and I'm horrified. Maverick's face is not sweet and gentle, his face looks completely evil now. His eyes have turned into snake eyes and his mouth creeps into an evil smirk.

The shadow man is somewhat changing. I can see little features of the face. I can see the mouth, the nose, ears, and cheeks. Now the hair is forming. The hair is black and spiked with gel. But I can't see the eyes.

The man looks fearless. He takes out a pocketknife from his back pocket and is ready to fight. Wait, the pocketknife looks familiar.

I look at the handle and there are carvings on it. Two roses. The two roses have letters carved by the stems. One rose has 'A' next to it, and then next to the second rose has a 'B'.

I hold my head in pain. Now my head shows me as a two year old. There's a man wearing a black tank top and grey sweats, smiling at me, and I run to hug him. I kissed the man's cheeks and he kisses my forehead.

He smiles when I giggled and hugged him. I see everything, but not the eyes. Why?

That vision is gone and I'm back in the castle. Now I'm even more horrified at what I'm seeing.

Maverick is holding a sword, which is plunged through the shadow man's belly. The shadow man is coughing up blood.

"Please, let me see her if I'm going to die," the shadow man lets out.

"I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't let that happen," Maverick says. His voice changed. Just a few minutes ago, he was sweet. But now he's so evil and cruel.

I come out of hiding and scream, "No! Maverick, why?!"

Maverick turns around and looks at me in shock. The shadow man's head looks up at me, and he smiles. Now the smile is familiar.
