Chapter 4

The next day I couldn't bear to face Riley again, so I stuck with Emma for most of the day, I didn't even see Nash.

Emma and I walked through the halls, dodging the people sprinting about. Everyone was a bit on edge as prom was just around the corner. I didn't have anyone to go with, I didn't have any close enough guy friends and Nash would probably ask Riley. Emma and I would just have to go together and have fun.

When we arrived at the Cafeteria we sat at our table in the corner with a few of Emily's friends. They were all talking about their prom dates but I was zoning most of it out.

All of a sudden the cheerleading team ran into the cafeteria and started playing their music.

"What the hell?" Whispered Emma into my ear.

I didn't reply, instead I watched as they performed their routine.

Just as they were getting to an end they pulled out some big posters and spelled out the word PROM. Gasps were heard all around as Nash stepped out from behind them, only to walk up to the one and only, Riley.

"Will you go to prom with me?" He asked her.

A lump formed in my throat, all the sound was blocked out, all I could see was Riley grinning and nodding at Nash.

Before they could kiss I jumped up and ran to the bathroom, hoping nobody would see me.

When I got there I started to cry, but not for long because in came Emma.

"Lilly?? What's wrong?" She asked with concern in her eyes

I just shook my head and wiped my eyes, I didn't really want to tell her.

"This is about Nash isn't it?" She said, stepping closer to me. I slowly nodded,

"I-I think i like him" I mumbled, looking into the mirror,

"I KNEW ITTT!" She screamed, doing a little happy dance. I gave her a weird look,

"Ok ok sorry" she said, calming down,

"I think you two would be the CUTEST couple, plus you're not a skank like Riley" she grinned.

"She may be a skank but Nash is still going to prom with her" I stated, frowning,

"Hey don't worry about that, you and I can go together as besties, we don't need any stupid guys" she said,

"Now come on, let's go back out there"

We arrived back at the table and everything had calmed down again but I could see Nash and Riley walking out of the cafeteria. Riley caught my eye and gave me a smug smirk, linking arms with Nash and walking out.

Ugh, I hate her.

After school I waited at the gate for Nash to come so we could walk home together.

When he finally arrived, he had Riley beside him

"Hey Lil, Riley needs to come over to do homework at my house, is it ok if she walks with us?" He asked, with pleading eyes

Um no it's not ok, she's a skank and you should burn her.

"Yeah, sure" I said with my best fake smile on.

Riley bumped my shoulder as she walked past me, hand in hand with Nash. The walk home was horrible, Nash didn't even talk to me and they were busy calling eachother cutesy cutesy names.

The only word from Nash was "Bye Lilly" as he walked past my house.

I trudged through the door, flinging my bag across the room,

"How was your day Lilly?" My mum asked, not looking up from her book.

"Perfect, just perfect" I snapped, heading to my room.

I wish Nash payed more attention to me, but that was out of question. All his attention had to be on Riley.
