I wake up early the next morning to a giant knot in my stomach. Not because of illness, but because of nerves.

The sunrise barely came through my single window, barely revealing a new object in my room.

On my dresser, was a small black box which i had assumed was for me.

With my trembling and sweaty hands, it was hard to get a firm grip on the opening. Nevertheless, i had one and pulled off the top.

Sleeping in an ebony velvet was a silver necklace. A needle pin was the base, supporting a set of wings near the ball and two intertwining snakes around the shaft.

The symbol of medicine.

I take the fresh jewelry, bending my neck forward and placing the cool metal around myself. My fingers subconsciously begin to inspect the foreign object, and flinch when i touch the bottom.

The end of the needle is sharp, and shaped almost as a screw.

What an odd necklace.

I decide to leave it alone, but tuck it inside my uniform for safe keeping and for no suspicion among the other staff.

Without stalling any longer, i decide to make my way to Mr. Malik's for our meeting.

~;)~

knock knock knock

"You may enter."

I take in a deep breath and clench my fists, trying to squeeze out the anxiety.

Here goes nothing

I open the door and quietly walk up the stairs, each step setting off a line of fireworks in my stomach.

"Hello." I nod, slapping on an stiff smile and fiddling with my hands.

"Good morning, Mr. Horan." Zayn hums, looking as if he's finishing up some paperwork.

The room is silent, the only noise being the shuffling of papers and my own being heart.

With a sigh, he scribbles his name on a document then files the papers away, giving me his attention.

Im bewildered.

"How are you this crisp morning?" He looks up to me, his chin raised as it always is. His hands are folded across his desk, and he leans towards me with interest.

"Somewhat nervous but well, thank you, yourself?" I ask, hoping the whole appointment wouldn't be this awkward and forced.

His lips push up against his cheeks. "I find myself in the same state as you, although there is no reason to be nervous," He says, seeming to reassure himself more than me, "How is Harry?"

"He is well, although he suffered an injury to his elbow last evening," I frown, recalling last night, "I recommended him to Liam since he seemed informed on treatments."
