No Trace - Part 14

Haley's eyes flutter open to see an empty space next to her, not what she was expecting. She sits up and rubs the sleep from her eyes and looks back down at her bed a second time hoping she just wasn't seeing right from being sleepy. The space next to her is still empty. Did he really leave? She thinks to herself feeling disappointed. He has sex with me then leaves, was that all he wanted? She mentally slaps herself for even thinking something like that, there has to be explanation. 

She drags her tired feet into her bathroom and stares at her reflection in the mirror. She looks so drained and defeated. She's getting tired of all the crying she's been doing these past few weeks. She needs to stop being so weak, yes things are really weird and fucked up right now but she needs to not let that destroy her like it has been. "Time for a change." She says to the mirror. She decides to take a nice warm relaxing bubble bath instead of a shower. She lays in the soapy water until the water begins to get cold. It was relaxing while it lasted. She steps out and puts on some black skinny jeans and a sweatshirt. She remembers what Harry said about her looking better with no makeup so she stays natural today. No make up and her wet hair falling down her back wildly. 

She grabs her phone and goes down stairs to see her Nana making waffles for breakfast. She gives her a good morning kiss and then sits down on one of the bar stools browsing her phone while she waits for the food to be done. While she's browsing through her twitter notifications she sees something that catches her eye. She see's that Tess and Debbie both tagged her in the same article so she clicked on it. The title read, ZAYN MALIKS ADOPTED DAUGHTER POSSIBLY DATING HARRY STYLES ?! She grimaces. Why do they always refer to her as his adopted daughter, she hates it, she's his daughter end of story, the adopted part shouldn't matter. She scrolls through the article and stops when she sees the snapshots of them together outside the pub laughing. She gets a weird feeling in her gut and is reminded that she still needs to get a hold of Harry and have him explain why he left while she was asleep. 

She exits out of twitter and goes to Harry's contact and sends him a text. 

Haley : Hey, you were gone when I woke up, did I scare you off already?

"That better not be Harry on the other end of that phone, texting him will just tempt you to go see him."  She sets her phone down so her dad can't see and she rolls her eyes. She's annoyed and surprised by his actions when he found out about Harry. "I'm not talking to you." She says as her Nana sets a plate of food in front her. She says thank you and then digs into her food not wasting a second. "If that's how it's going to be that's fine, you can hate me but I'm just doing this for your protection because I love you princess."  He says going to his mom for help with his tie. Yes a 36 year old man still needs help putting on a tie. Haley sets her fork down and turns to face him. " I don't hate you Dad I could never hate you, but I don't agree with what you're doing, I understand that you wanna keep me safe but you could go about it a much better way."

"You have that right, I'll be home late tonight, mum don't let her leave the house." He says as he gives his mum a kiss on the cheek and ruffles Haley's hair as he passes her. Haley moves her gaze from her food to her Nana. "Are you really not gonna let me leave Nana, I hate being trapped in this house." She says with a pleading tone. "I'm sorry my love but I agree with your father, it's best for you to stay home until this all gets figured out." Her Nana says as she turns around and starts cleaning up. "What if I promise to stay with Louis, you guys trust him he'll keep me safe." Haley's trying to persuade her Nana but it doesn't seem to be working. "No Haley it's final, you can't go out even if it's with Louis, he can come here but you can not leave, the last time you left with someone they almost got shot, something could have happened to you!" Haley is a little shocked that her Nana raised her voice, she's never yelled at her before.
