How? Wait! Really?!

"So you do?" I ask and pull back.

"Now. How? Wait! Really?!" He asks getting excited.

"Yea." I say and smile.

"I'm sorry." Ted says and looks down.

"Why?" I ask as we sit down at the table.

"Josh and I left the normal schools there after Kico. We should have stayed to support you guys." He says and looks down, ashamed.

"It's fine. We all had different ways to cope with him. Him being 'gone'." I say and put quotes around the word 'gone'.

"What do you mean 'gone'?" He asks looking really confused.

"He's alive! He came to my school the other day and surprised me. And expects me to run right back to him after what he did." I say and look down. Do I want him back? 2 years ago I wouldn't have hesitated. But that was 2 years ago... I learned to cope with him being gone. I missed him so much and still do even tho I know he's alive. But I don't think he really knows how hard it was and is.

"He's alive?" He asks looking kinda mad.

"Yep. He pretended to be dead because of duck creek. Now he's back at duck creek high school or something like nothing ever happened." I say and fight the urge to punch something.

"I'm gonna kill him." Ted says under his breath and his whole body tenses. And I can tell his eyes are probably dark even tho I can't see them.

"I want to also. Don't worry." I say and look down some more.

"No! I'm literally going to! Josh still cries! He watched his best friend die! He thought he did! That's the first fight he ever saw and his best friend got stabbed! I can barely even leave his side because he's at risk of suicide! And Kico isn't even fucking dead!!!"He shouts standing up. He turns and punches the wall so hard I'm surprised it didn't brake.

"Look let's go to P.E. Can I talk to Josh about it later?" I ask carefully.

"Yea. After ball. I'll go to the basement so you guys can talk in our room." He says tensely.

"Ok. Ummm... Let's go to gym. You wanna talk to Sam and them after I talk to Josh? I have to FaceTime the gang tonight." I ask.

"Umm. Sure... What if their mad?" He ask hesitantly.

"They won't be. They haven't seen any of us since they left. They just got back the day before I left." I say as we walk to the door.

"Can I talk to Kelly too?" He asks getting kinda excited and I feel the tears rush to my eyes but make sure they don't fall.

"Ummm... She... She died Ted." I say.

"What? No- no she didn't." He says getting shaky.

"I'm so sorry." I say and hug him.

"Don't be. Let's go to gym. I need to go to the fucking basement." He says and stands up. As soon as he does I could see how crumbled he looked.

"Look I don't know whats up with the basement. But you should go if it will help." I say.

"I can't skip. Let's just get this fucking day over with." He says and I watch as he slowly puts his guard back up.

"Ok." We both start to run to the gym building and I can tell this will be one day of full on hell.

So... Ted and Josh didn't know Kico was alive still... Or that Kelly was dead... So, wow... Ok.
