Dancing with our hands tied

We had a society function two days later. It was a grand farewell party for a guy who resided in the society since long and was now going abroad for further studies. He was an integral part of the society, the most active and the favourite of all. We never wanted him to go.

But 'good things last forever' sometimes can just not be true. We thus decided to organise a party for him. A huge picture collage was made, each picture held a great moment passed with him in the society. The party was as amazing, until he mentioned how he would love to see the 'Couples dancing'.

Now the thing is it's cool to ask for a couple dance and watch uncle and aunts show a step but he wanted to make it look 'interesting' and asked the newly cupid struck couples to dance.

I grabbed him by his hand and took him to a corner.

"Himanshu, Are you crazy? Do you think we'll couple dance in front of our parents and these oldies with extra cool mentality?"

"Riya, Before going I want to see you and Arjun dancing"

"You're drunk" I said laughing

"You know what Riya, Never let anyone decide what you can and can't do. Because, if you let your actions depend on the society? You'll regret it for the rest of your life."

I don't know what was in the air. But for the first time, I actually thought Himanshu was right. And so we went back to the party where half of the couples were still deciding on what to do.

"May I?" Arjun asked, as he bought forward his hand.

Smiling I held his hand and we started dancing to my favourite song. The lyrics made sense more than ever...

We keep this love in a photograph
We made these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes are never closing
Hearts are never broken
And time's forever frozen still....
