New Friends

Chapter 12

Winrys' pov

I wonder where Ed and Al are? They haven't called or came by for a visit in almost a year and I'm really worried. I hope (y/n) was keeping them out of trouble and making sure that Eds' arm and leg were still fine and didn't need to be fixed yet. (Y/n) and Yuki were so distant from me and them but these days Ed and (y/n) spend so much time with each other that Al and Yuki can run around and play games all day. I don't even think Ed has told her how he feels yet...I don't like the thought of them being alone together ALL the time. I'd hate to admit it but I think I'm jealous of her getting Eds' attention all the time. I miss when he and I used to play outside together and then I introduced yuki and (y/n) to them. It's my fault he doesn't know that I like him and it's not his fault that he loves her. I guess I should try and move on so he can be happy. I let out a depressed sigh and walked out the door and to the river bank.

“It's beautiful here...No wonder Al always came here to calm down from a fight between him and Ed as kids.” I smile and heard someone walk up behind me which caused me to turn around. I saw a boy around my age. He had short brown hair, deep honey colored eyes, and a smile that could brighten up any ones' day. I waved shyly at him as he walked closer to me.

???s' pov

I was walking around the new town I had just moved to when I noticed a blonde haired girl all alone by a river. I slowly walked towards her but apparently she heard me coming. When I got close enough to her I noticed she's been worrying about someone. I have to admit it, she was very pretty. Her ice blue eyes complemented the color of her bright blonde hair, but what I liked most about this girl was her smile.

“H-Hello there. Are you new around here?” She asked me and I bowed and lifted my head up slightly to look at her. She seemed a little shocked but her smile never faded. I straightened my posture and smiled back at her.

“I'm Zack and actually I am a little new to this part of town. May I ask what your name is miss?” She blushed lightly and it just made her look even more beautiful than she already was. I loved everything about her.

Zacks' pov

“Winry. I live just down the road from here and I work at the auto-mail shop.” She seemed excited that someone actually listened to what she had said and hugged me. I blushed deeply and hugged her back. When she pulled away she lead me to her house and we chatted for quiet a while until it was extremely late out.

“Well I better get going before I can't see anything two inches in front of me.” I laughed a bit and ruffled her hair slightly. She was very interesting and quiet fun to hang out with. I wonder why she seemed down earlier today. “Hey Winry, if you don't mind me asking, why did you seem upset when we met?” she looked at me and that lovely smiled faded and replacing it was a worried frown. I walked up to her and gently lifted her head up so we were looking at each other.

~On the Island~

Edwards' pov

I woke up in a nice warm bed and noticed (y/n) in my arms sound asleep. I smiled at her and noticed that the home she had made was twice as big then before and there were two beds, a small ditch full of water and some fish, and a large bucket of clean and purified water. Who did all of this?

“mmm.” I felt (y/n) roll over to face me and she nuzzled into my chest. I kissed the top of her head and playfully bit down on the rim of her ear. She giggled and her eyes fluttered open. I pulled her closer and moved her hair out of her face so she didn't have anything waking her. After a few minutes of resting I got up and saw Wrath in the other bed and his blanket was on the ground yet again. I dusted off the covers and tucked him back in.

“Sleep well little one.” I smiled and walked outside to see if that homunculus called my mother was out here waiting to attack my girl. As I walked around I saw that lust was out and close to the house so I went to talk with her. She turned around to face me and gave a small smile and looked back into the woods like something was out there that wanted to hurt us.

“Fullmetal? Why are you out here instead of inside?” She seemed like she was on guard and protecting our home...but why would she protect me?

“I was gonna go look around to make sure that your friend wasn't around. Why are you out?” She patted my head and I fummed inside but I stayed calm. Human or not she did have feelings and memories.

“I'm here because you, Wrath, and (y/n) are going to need the help. I'll keep watch but keep them close to the house. Wrath can handle her if he wants to go out and play but you and your girlfriend have to stay around here got it?” she commanded but I was to busy thinking of what would happen if Envy hurt wrath and her. I didn't bother blinking away the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes but I don't want them to worry. I won't let that happen to my family or anyone I've become close with.
