I stretch open my eyes to see that I'm still stuck in this bloody hole, and I groan, my face hurting from where Ryan hit me the other day.
"Hannah! Breakfast!" A man yells down to me and throws me some bread, and I recognize the man to be Jerome.
I catch the bread and eats, not paying any mind to Jerome.
"Has she eaten? The girl in the pit?" Ryan asks Jerome, and a shiver travels down my spine.
"Yeah, yeah I think she's done." I hear Jerome answer and Ryan laughs.
"Good. Ty, bring that other girl here." Ryan commands and my heart jumps.
"Let me go you little pieces of crap!" I hear a Zoey yell and the guy Ty throws her down her with me.
"Zoey! You're ok." I say and hugs her, and she hugs me back.
"Yeah, I'm mostly ok. I think that they've still got Lewis and Martyn in the house. They sounded okay, last time I heard them. How are you holding up?" She informs me and I sigh.
"As well as any trapped person can be. Zoey, we've got to get out of here." I whisper and she nods.
"Alright, at night, we'll get out of here. We've got to get Martyn and Lewis though. We can't leave them." She says and I nod.
"Of course we won't leave them!" I say and we sit there and wait until night falls.
"Where'd you get the mushroom necklace your wearing? I don't think that I've ever seen you a day without it on." I ask, and Zoey smiles, and looks down at the little mushroom charm that she now holds in her hand.
"Well, my dad have it to me before the world went to crap. He knew that I love mushrooms and nature, so he got me one. I don't take it off, cause it reminds me of him." She says softly and I blink.
"Oh." is all I say and we sit in silence for the rest of the time.
Once it's dark, Zoey struggles to climb up the dirt wall of the hole, and she disappears once she reaches the top.
"Okay, help me up." I say and she reaches down and grabs my arm, and helps me up to the place she's at.
"Hannah, we've got company." She says and I stand to see Mitch walking towards us.
"Um, hello. Yeah, you probably know me as your torturer, but I'm gonna help you get out of here. Jerome's already gone to get your boys." Mitch says and hands us back our gear and we stare at him.
"Why would you help us? I thought you wanted us to join you." Zoey questions him.
"I do, but I know that you won't. I've already seen a person get really hurt because of Ryan's tactics, and I don't want to see anyone else hurt." He answers and I blink.
"What was the persons name?" I say.
"His name was Sips, or something like that. He was protecting his friend, Sjin, and Ryan had him killed. Anyways, follow me." Mitch says and dashes off and I follow him, and Zoey stays put.
"Zoey, come on. We're getting out of here." I say, turning back.
"Hannah, I've got to see his grave. I've got to know that he's dead." She says and I grab her arm.
"We'll get Mitch to show us. Now come on! We've gotta go." I say and pretty much drags Zoey along as we follow Mitch into woods.
"Jerome's supposed to meet us here with Lewis and Martyn." Mitch says as we stop at a large tree in the forest.
"Where's Sips grave?" Zoey says, and Mitch raises an eyebrow.
"Why do you wanna know? You one of those people who dig up graves and take anything the dead mans got?" He says and Zoey shakes her head.
"Sips was a old... friend of Zoeys'. She just wants to see his grave." I explain and Mitch shrugs.
"Fine. It's by those logs over there. Me and a guy named Matt had the honors of taking him out of camp. We were supposed to just let him rot, but we buried him." Mitch says, nodding his head to the bundle of logs that might have been used as fire wood.
Zoey goes over to it and kneels on the ground, staring at it with tears in her eyes.
"Hannah! Zoey!" I hear Lewis call and I turn to see the raven haired man I've come to love racing through the trees towards me, Martyn right behind him.
"Lewis! Martyn! Thank God you two are okay." I say, and Martyn goes straight to Zoey's side.
"Where's Jerome?" Mitch says and Lewis looks over at him.
"He stayed behind to make sure that no one followed-" He says and a gun shot fires, and Mitch's face pales immediately.
"Jerome!" He screams and takes off, and we both run to Zoey and Martyn's side.
"Guys, we've gotta go! They're coming." I say and sees a few of the men emerging from the trees.
We all take off, and Martyn stays next to Zoey, and Lewis stays by me.
Guns fire at us, and Lewis yells, "Split up!"
He grabs my hand and we run, and I catch Zoey's eyes as she and Martyn run in a different direction.
Most of the gunfire stops, but we are still being chased.
Lewis grabs me and picks me up, and I stare at him with wide eyes as we get to the edge of a cliff.
"Lewis, Lewis what are you doing." I say as he runs at the edge and leaps off, and we both scream as his grip tightens on me and we fall into a lake below.
Lewis lets go of me as we hit the water and go under, and I feel the cold water seep through my clothes, chilling me.
I resurface and looks around for Lewis, and I see him a few feet away.
"Lewis! You crazy man." I say, and swims over to him and I close my eyes and hugs him as I reach him.
"We did it, Hannah. We escaped. We're free." He says and I laugh, but it soon stops.
"But, Martyn and Zoey, where are they?" I say and we both fall silent, not knowing what might be happening to our friends.
