Chapter 13: Alive Or Dead

Frank walked back into the basement, with Matt close behind him. Suddenly Frank burst through the door to the room which Cherry and Gabriel were in. Cherry's and Gabriel's eyes were wide with fear, neither of them had seen him this angry.

"You two you're coming with me" Snapped Frank as he stepped aside from the door and held a hand out towards the larger room.

Both Cherry and Gabriel glanced at each other then stood up. Cherry felt a bit uncomfortable being forced to go out in just her underwear. Gently Gabriel placed a hand on her shoulder and they both started walking out. Just as Cherry passed Frank, quickly he grabbed her shoulder and pressed the gun to her head. Cherry shrieked and felt her body turn ice cold. Gabriel quickly whipped around to give Frank some strong eye contact.

"Keep walking Gabriel" Said Frank as he nudged Cherry's head with the gun, causing Cherry to close her eyes in fear.

Matt led the way to the van, keeping an eye on Gabriel. Frank kept a strong grip on Cherry's shoulder. Forcefully Matt opened the van side door and stepped to the side. Gabriel stepped inside, Cherry slowly stepped up her back still in pain. Finally Frank stepped in and shut the van door with a massive bang. Matt got into the drivers seat and started to drive to the address.

In the back of the van, Cherry was sitting next to Gabriel. Both of them were opposite to Frank. Gabriel had an arm Cherry, letting her rest against the side of his body. Cherry shivered slightly, wrapping her arms around herself to try and keep warm. Gabriel felt Cherry shiver and took off his button up shirt and wrapped it around her. She got as close as she could to him, he placed an hand on her arm and rubbed up and down.

It was about half an hour before Matt stopped the van.

"Okay... well this is the place" Said Matt as he looked through the small window into the back.

Frank sighed and got out of the van, he slammed the door with so much force the whole van shook. Slowly he walked up to the door and rang the doorbell. After a couple of minuets the front door started to open.

"Hi, can I help you?" Said the person who had just opened the door, he was a man of about 40.

"Hi, this might sound crazy... but 18 years ago... a boy was supposedly given to you... I might have the wrong address or whatever... I didn't know if you knew anything about it" Stuttered Frank as he mind began racing, he felt like a complete idiot.

"Ah yes... you must be his real father... we know all about it... the man who gave him to use 18 years ago told us you'd be coming back to get him" Replied the man as he offered for Frank to come inside.

Frank was amazed that this man knew all about it. Slowly he walked inside and followed the man to the kitchen.

"I'll go and get your son" Said the man as he turned and walked away.

After a few minuets Frank heard footsteps coming down the stairs. The man came back in with a boy of about 21 years old. His eyes were wide with disbelief, Frank's eyes almost filled with tears.

"Alex" Said Frank as he took a step closer to his son.

"Father" Replied Alex as he took a step closer to his father.

Suddenly Alex wrapped his arms around Frank and hugged him. Frank was a bit shocked to begin with but then gave his son a hug. The man stood there smiling at the pair of them.

"Well Alex... I guess it's time for you to go back to your real family" Said the man as he placed a hand on Alex's shoulder.

"Thank you for everything" Said Alex as he let go of Frank and turned to face the other man.

"Would it be okay, if I came and got my things tomorrow?" Continued Alex as he gave the man a small smile.

"Of course you can Alex" Replied the man as he gave Alex a wide smile.

"Thank you... well I'll see you soon" Said Alex as he started to walk to the front door with Frank behind him.

They both walked out of the house and Alex gave the man a wave goodbye. Matt was standing outside the van waiting for Frank to come back. To Matt's horror Frank was walking back with a boy a few years older than him.

"Father... is that..." Stuttered Matt as his eyes were becoming wider and wider by the second.

"Yes Matt... this is your older brother Alex" Replied Frank as he gave Matt a small smile.

"It's good to see you brother" Said Alex as he gave his brother a hug, then Matt gave Alex a hug.

Slowly Frank opened the van and saw Cherry crying on Gabriel's shoulder.

"It hurt... it hurts so much Gabriel" Cried Cherry as she continued to cry onto Gabriel's shoulder.

"It's going to be alright Cherry... just hang in there" Replied Gabriel as he gently wrapped his arms around Cherry, trying not to cause her any pain.

Gabriel looked up and saw Frank and another boy just starting to get into the van. Frank closed the door behind him and looked over towards Cherry and Gabriel.

"Well... looks like you were right Cherry" Said Frank as he lent back against the van wall.

"Thank you... you didn't have to give me that address but you did... why?" Continued Frank as a look of curiosity grew on his face.

"My grandfather told me one night... that it would save my life... and I'm praying that it has" Replied Cherry as she looked down towards her lap.

"Well... it has saved your life now... because I no longer need anything out of you... nor do I need to put your father through anymore suffering" Said Frank as he looked over towards Cherry, his eyes seemed to have emotions in them again.

Suddenly Matt stopped the van, the Frank opened the door and stood to the side.

"You two... get out... you're free to go" Said Frank as he glared at the pair of them.

Gabriel got out of the van then Cherry did. Once they were out Frank got back in and slammed the door behind him. Then Matt drove the van away and into the night.

Gabriel started walking towards the front door. Cherry started limping then collapsed to the floor. Quickly Gabriel turned around and went back over to Cherry. Gently he picked Cherry up in a bridal carry and walked towards the front door. Gabriel knocked on his home door and waited for it to open.

Slowly the door opened, his father and mother were standing there looking depressed. Their eyes went wide with shock when they saw Cherry in Gabriel's arms.

"Father... we've got to get her to the hospital" Said Gabriel in a panicked tone and he looked down at Cherry.

Quickly the three of them rushed to their car and got it. It was about half an hour before they got to the hospital. Cherry was being seen by a nurse when one of the doctors came out of the room. The doctor walked over to Gabriel, Martin and Elizabeth.

"Its not looking good in there... it might be the last time you get to see her alive" Said the doctor as a look of horror covered Gabriel's, Martin's and Elizabeth's faces.
