Jungkook walked down the sidewalk with Jaehyung and Dowoon, arms crossed and two shopping bags hanging from his forearm. His face was twisted into an unreadable expression, only tightening when he stopped at a crosswalk, eyes fixed on the small screen in anticipation for the pixelated image of the walking man.

"What's got you so grumpy all of a sudden?" Dowoon poked his arm, stopping beside him.

Jungkook shrugged his finger away. "Isn't it obvious?"

"Not really." Dowoon shrugged. 

"Jae?" 

"Hm?" Jaehyung looked at the two. 

Jungkook jerked his head in Dowoon's direction. "I'm tired of explaining, so please?"

Jaehyung looked at him for a moment before realization dawned on him. "Ah, got it. My pleasure." He laughed and put an arm around Dowoon's shoulders. 

At that moment they were able to cross the street and the three of them stepped off the curb, walking to the other side. 

"Taehyung drives Jungkook nuts. Always has, always will. Now I know you don't know Jungkook as well as I do, so you didn't really know so that's okay. But for future reference, just know that Jungkook despises Kim Taehyung."

"What did Taehyung do?" Dowoon frowned.

"What hasn't he done?" Jungkook snorted. "He's obnoxious, he's flirtatious, he's loud, he's an attention whore, he's spoiled, he's just- ugh." 

There was silence from Dowoon as he processed this information, before a small smile broke out on his face. Jungkook glared as he caught sight of it.

"What?"

"Nothing." Dowoon looked ahead, putting both hands in his front pant pockets. "It's just that... This is usually how someone acts when they really like someone and they want to re-establish their supposed superiority." 

Jungkook stared at him while Jaehyung had to stop walking because he bust out laughing so hysterically. 

To say Jungkook's stare was murderous would be an understatement. 
And to say that something inside of him didn't flutter would also be a bit of a lie...

Taehyung sat on park bench that was just off of a foot path and overlooked a small pond. He watched as two kids crouched at the edge, tossing small pieces of bread in hopes of attracting the ducks that were on the opposite side. Sitting on a bench diagonal to where Taehyung sat was a couple, looking peaceful and content as they enjoyed the beautiful afternoon together. 

And then there was a family walking down the path in front of Taehyung.

The father had a young toddler boy sitting on his shoulders, large hands holding onto his sons' legs securely and a joyful smile on his face. Beside him walked a smaller woman pushing a yellow and blue stroller that held a sleeping baby, the visor of the stroller pulled up all the way to block the sun. 

As they walked past, Taehyung smiled. Family was something dear to him, although he didn't necessarily have a close-knit one himself. Sure, he loved his parents, his parents loved him, but lately things had been... difficult. 

It was honestly just the pressure of Taehyung's future weighing on all of them. Taehyung was worried he wouldn't be suit to take over the family company, his father was irritated that Taehyung was doubting himself, his mother was concerned for the both of them. 
Now that he thought about it, that's what their family relationship had really been for the past couple of years; business.

Taehyung looked down at his phone, which he had in his palm in a secure grip so he didn't lose it somewhere in the strange city of LA. 

He lifted it up so he could view the screen and opened his contacts, scrolling through until he found Jimin's. 

The phone rang a total of four times before the familiar voice answered. 

"Hey, what's up, Tae?"

"Ah, nothing." Taehyung looked down at his free hand that laid in his lap. "Um, how's your day? You've been with Yoongi, right? I just finished doing some shopping, we could go grab dinner if you want. I saw a diner that looked pretty cool."

Unconsciously, Taehyung had smiled. 

The idea of trying something new with someone he considered a friend was something totally new to him, believe it or not. 

"Diner, huh? Did it by any chance look kind of like a box car? Kinda old, too?" Jimin asked. 

Taehyung's smile grew. "Yeah, that one. We can meet at the dorm building in an hour and then go over there for dinner."

Jimin sighed into the phone and Taehyung felt something pinch inside of him. He had heard that same exact sigh before coming from his father everytime he forgot something that Taehyung had planned. 

"Actually, Tae... That- That sounds great and I'd love to, if Yoongi and I hadn't gone there for lunch... We were going to go see if we could sneak into a drive-in theater later if you wanted to maybe join! I can ask Yoon-"

"No, no it's fine!" Taehyung chuckled lightly, leaning back against the park bench and stretching his legs out. "I just thought I should ask. I don't want to impose on any plans, so you two go ahead."

"Well, if you insist. Sorry, man! Anything else you need?" Jimin asked. Taehyung shook his head, athough he knew Jimin couldn't see. 

"Nah, I'll let you go. See you later."

Jimin said goodbye and ended the call, and Taehyung stood, pocketing his phone and grabbing the plastic bag that held the items he had purchased earlier in the day. 

After pushing an earbud into one ear and hitting the 'shuffle' button on his Spotify, he began to walk back to the dorm building, thoughts clouded and racing a mile a minute.

On the way, his stomach growled a bit and Taehyung grimaced a little. He had tried ignoring it earlier, intending on going to that diner with Jimin but since that fell through he had no dinner plans, and there was no food in his room. 

Ironically, he had stopped walking outside of a convenience store. 

Taehyung swallowed his pride and went in, grabbing a couple containers of ramen cups and some soda cans to drink to tie him over for a bit. Something told him that he wouldn't be going out to dinner with many people during this trip. 

the more I write this, the more the roles end up flipping and idk how i feel about it? 

Does this story seem good to you guys? In terms of characters? I don't want to overdo this whole 'tae is sad/jk is defensive' thing and im worried I am aH
