trial & error off in the distance: IMMA BAD BITCH U CAN'T KILL ME
"So... you two are friends now?"
"Yes? I don't know, maybe. Somewhere along those lines, I guess- Acquaintances! That's it, we're acquaintances." Jungkook confirmed from the other end of the line, but was met with an awkward silence. "Hobi? You still there?"
"Acquaintances... Oh man, wait till I tell Namjoon about this." Hoseok snickered through the phone and Jungkook's grip tightened."Namjoon? Why?" He grit his teeth.
"Because! There's no one else to hang out with here! And he's close with Taehyung, I'm close with you-"
"Are you saying you gossip about us?""I wasn't going to use the term 'gossip' but... yeah, pretty much. Alright... I gotta go. Lecture starts in a few minutes. Keep me updated!" Jungkook could practically hear the beaming smile in Hoseok's voice.
He said his goodbyes to his college roommate and hung up, resting his hands in his lap and leaning his head back against the couch. Acquaintances. That was a term he never thought he'd use in regards to Kim Taehyung.
As far as he was concerned, the red head was still the bane of his existence. He was just being nice. Taehyung was still a person with his own issues, no matter how irritating he was.
But this wouldn't go much further. Jungkook still felt weird about Taehyung.
"Jungkook!"
Speak of the Devil and he shall appear.
"Yeah, Taehyung?" Jungkook lifted his head and looked at his current roommate, praying mentally that it was a quick question so he could go back to his peace and quiet.
Taehyung was smiling, one hand holding his phone and the other holding a flyer. Jungkook squinted a little bit to read the advertisement on the neon pink paper, but to no avail.
"I found this- there's this super cool cafe just a few blocks away from here and it's Open Mic tonight! I really want to go and- well, Jimin can't go, so do you think you'd go with me?" Taehyung's voice softened by the end of his excited response, suddenly realizing how forward he was being. "If you want."
Jungkook stared at him momentarily and then thought it over in his head. Taehyung was asking him a sincere question for once in his life, but Jungkook also really didn't want to go. He wasn't exactly comfortable with the idea of hanging out with Taehyung.
"Um, actually, Jae-" He began but paused when he saw the faltering of Taehyung's smile. Ah, shit. "Jae cancelled our plans to get ice cream so, yeah. Yeah I suppose." He forced a smile, but it became a little less forced as he saw the excitement reignite in Taehyung's brown eyes.
Said male beamed and turned to leave, then looked over his shoulder. "Let's go, then, Kookie!" He let out a joyous laugh and Jungkook's smile became even less forced. The dancer got up from the couch and slipped on his sneakers before leaving with Taehyung, unsure of what to expect of this little adventure. He'd never been to an Open Mic night before, let alone gone anywhere with Taehyung.
Tonight was sure to be full of surprises.
Wow he was right.
Not only was the cafe more hipster than he expected, and not only were he and Taehyung the only Koreans in the small venue, but he felt severely under-dressed. He was still wearing his dancing clothes from earlier that day; honestly he was too lazy to bother changing.
