There is a flashback that nobody has seen from Zane's point of view in this chapter and I'm excited for you guys to read it
Also I have no idea what happened. The chapter was posted and there was comments on it and then it was just gone and all of the comments were gone. If it updates twice, please let me know._____
Chapter Thirteen: Animals and a Semi
We packed up the passenger van and rented a U-Haul trailer for our luggage and now we're somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Utah with the trailer attached to the van. Trees surround the road and Zane is driving quickly. My feet are resting on the dash and I'm scrolling through my instagram. The kids are quiet and Zane isn't saying much either.
With reception lost, I lock my screen and drop my phone down on my lap, turning my attention to the window.
"Mom, does Vanessa have Rylee and Rowan, or does Uncle Finn?" Brandon asks.
"I think Vanessa." I murmur.
"Why did they even get divorced?" Logan asks suddenly. "I remember then being so happy when I was a kid..." he trails off. "What happened?"
Their divorce? It was my fault. Zane insists it wasn't but I think it was.
"Do you guys remember when our house collapsed?" I ask.
"Yes." Liam, Logan, Brandon, and Ben say as Nick, Noah, Vivienne, and Valentina say no.
"Well it collapsed and we lived with Nana and Papa for a week or so, but Uncle Finn said it would be cool if we got a property with a lake so you guys could have the summers. When you guys were little, we didn't have the lake or the pool. The lake was another property with another house. Dad said he knew the neighbor had a pond and I didn't want to live with my parents because Vivienne and Valentina, you girls were babies, not even a year old, and you two were staying in our room, and all of us were crammed on top of my parents, so we bought the house. It was gross but me and Vanessa and Aunt Lauren and Aunt Evelyn, we renovated it. Vanessa said we should give the house to Finn and her-"
"How much was the house?" Liam wonders.
"It was over eight hundred thousand." I say honestly. "I told her I would talk to Dad, but back then, Dad was always next door rebuilding our house and he came home exhausted so we didn't talk much and I didn't want to use the time we had asking him about giving our house to Vanessa and Finn. It would have been fun if we did. Vanessa was my best friend for a very long time. The path from our house to the lake was made by Vanessa and I. Anyways, I asked Dad about it a few days before we moved back in and he said no, obviously because we spent a lot of money on that house and it wasn't wise for us to just throw away a million dollars, because that's how much money we spent all together with the renovation. The lake was just a tiny pond and we had it expanded. Anyways, Mom asked what we were doing with the house in front of our family and we told them we were selling it or something, I don't remember exactly. Anyways, Vanessa freaked and lied to everyone saying that I told her she could have the house."
"She kept lying and tried to turn our family against your mother." Zane says. "One of us asked her to leave and Finn was mad at her because she'd never mentioned the idea with anybody but Rose and he's always been so protective of Rose, him and Finn and Tanner and Reagan, too, and so I think he was mad because she tried to lie to get Rosie in trouble or something, and two months later Finn was coming to stay with us because he filed for divorce."
