I can't begin to describe how happy I was feeling as I started to get out of that death machine people call airplane. Looking around I realized we were entering a huge airport, but to my dismay I didn't see any food court close by. I need to eat something, and I need to do it soon.
I got off first since I was with Colton and he, you know, "needed" assistance so thank you, cancer perks. So now we both had to wait for our parents to come out.
"You know this whole cancer perks thing; I could really get used to them" I said smiling down at Colton.
"Oh you just wait, it gets even better" He said returning my smile, just that his was even brighter.
"I can't wait for it."
He once again was right. It did get better since they did everything for us, as in, everything. They took care of our passports; they did all the annoying waiting lines and even picked up our luggage. I think I'm liking this whole 'let's pity the dying kid and his friend' thingy.
"I see you're enjoying yourself" Said Colton interrupting my thoughts and looking really amused at me. And I can't really blame him for it. I've been gaping this whole time while I have people doing the things I should do myself. It's not something that I like on a normal daily basis but I'm hungry, and I hate airports.
"I am enjoying myself even if I'm not used to this."
"I wish I wasn't used to this either." He wasn't smiling this time.
He must have noticed something in my face because he quickly smiled and retook his sentence "I'm just kidding! I actually love having people around me all the time doing the things I should be doing, or the thing I should be able to be doing." Just then did I realize the situation. I might be supposed to enjoy having people doing the annoying trivial things for me, but for Colton it must be a whole different story. I could see how he wanted to be treated normally.
"Well as much as I like being useless, I had enough. Come on, let's do our own thing." I said pulling him by the arm towards the old lady who was in charge of us.
"No Megan it's okay, let's wait right here to-" I glared at him to shut him up and it actually surprised me when it worked.
"Excuse me miss but we'll take it from here." I said already reaching out to grab my luggage.
She looked at me as if I just grew another head and said "Are you sure? Because your friend here looks like he needs help."
I looked back at Colton and saw him trying to hide his embarrassment. I couldn't hide my annoyance anymore, so I took my luggage from her, "Well he doesn't. I don't know if those big round glasses that you have on are really helping your eyesight but he's perfectly fine. And you know what? Take the wheelchair with you too I think you need it more than him with your age and everything." Colton gasped and got up to stop me from saying any more so I looked at him and finished, "What? Do you think I will carry the rest of this for you? Take you bags."
He kept on walking until he was just in front of me, he smiled warmly and said, "As you wish ma'am."
I started walking odd first completely ignoring the existence of the assistant, I just assumed she was already gone. Colton was quick to catch up with me looking pleased with the fact that he had to carry his own belonging. I, on the other hand, was regretting a bit my decision.
"God I'm so hungry I want to meet with my mom already so I can force her to buy me food."
"Why don't we go ahead and get some?"
