Shifters

Prologue: A shifter and its powers.

"Steady Viv. Concentrate. Take a deep breath." My father said in a hushed voice. "Close your eyes. See the rock in your head."

I'm only 7 but i have done this many times over the past two weeks. Ever scince my powers started developing my father and I have been in the medow beside our house trying to get me to move a rock. Yet with no results.

"That's a girl." He said. "Now... SHOOT!!"

My eyes snap open and I thrust my hands outwards towards the rock. I feel great energy traveling through me as the rock roles a couple meters away. "Yes!!!" I squeal.

"Good job, Viv!!" My father screams and lifts me up. "You did it! You're going to be so strong!" I laugh.

My powers just developed which means my shifting abilities will come soon also. I spend all my free time dreaming about it. What will I be? Could i be a cheetah like my dad? Fast and strong? Or a panther like my mom? Sleek and stealthy? I could even be a wild and free stallion. I could also be so unlucky and get the bear that my older brother, Cam, is. No. I'll be something better, i can feel it.

My younger brother, Sam, He wants to be a monkey but that's very unlikely. Shifters can only shift into certain animals like big wild cats, Wolves, bears and horses. Never once have i heard of a shifter monkey.

Some shifters, like myself and my father, are special enough to have powers. The most common powers are the elements. To control fire, water, earth, or air. My dad controls the element water, I could sit for hours watching the beautiful shapes he makes with the water. The more uncommon ones can be almost anything. My powers of telekinesis just came in two weeks ago. Powers, if you have them, notify you when your shift is among you.

My names Vivian, and i hope to one day be just like my father. strong, fast, and well known. My uncommon telekinesis powers will help me with the last part.

Only, nothing, not even my father, could help me with I must face in the future.
