The smell of the trees, the new sights, all the sounds. Being in my shifted form was amazing. It was only my first shift but like my dad  says, the first shift is always the most exhilarating.

I'm 16, much older then most shifters when they first shift. Also a long time since my powers started to surface. I'm almost a master at them now. Telekinesis comes in handy sometimes too. Most shifter experience their first shift 2-3 years after a power has surfaced or around age 10 when they don't have a power.

I run through the woods feeling free at last, my father in cheetah form way ahead of me. Of course, i didn't get the same shift as my father. I got my shift as a wolf. My wolf is named Kiana and is pure white with blue eyes to match my white-blonde hair and blue eyes.

When gardian animals, such as the ones we shift into, die, their spirits wait in the inbetween for a suitable shifter who they can collaberate with. Kiana and I were a perfect match.

I didn't want to stop running but my father made me.

"Ok Viv, time to stop now." I hear him call. I stop and turn around, he's already in humen for, running to catch up to me. I didn't even notice when i ran past him. "I'm so proud of you! You were able to shift perfectly into your spirit shifter." As if mockingly he scratched behind my ear.

I backed away and shifted back into humen form. "Thanks father." I gave him a small smile.

I looked down at my clothes. Still intact. I read so many books where werewolves clothes ripped when they transformed. I'm glad im a shifter and not a werewolf. I was still wearing my blue jeans and my black jacket with the white fur hood. My cropped white-blonde hair was sticking to my face with sweat but i didn't feel tired yet. I still wanted to run.

"Let's go home. I know you want to run but you wont get tired in your shifter form so you have to take a break sometime." Said my father, holding out a hand. I linked my arm through his suddenly feeling a bit woozy and used him for support as we walked back to our house.

It was a far walk considering the long run we took. All i wanted to do was sleep but my father made me take a shower first to wash away the sweat.

"Do i have to?" I argued. "I'm too tired."

He gave me the look. "Yes. It's not healthy to sleep with all that sweat." and so i lugged my tired body up the stairs and in the shower.

After my shower i dressed in pj's then climbed into my bed but no longer felt tired which i thought was weird considering i just turned into a gient wolf and ran half a mile with no break.

"Kiana..." I smiled to myself. She was perfect for me. Maybe i should be more easy on Cam and Kio, his shifting form. I now feel what he feels about Kio with Kiana. Love, partnership, and trusting.

"I should get some sleep." I say more to Kiana then to myself even though she can't really understand words. Shifting forms understand our feelings so i guess she can feel that tomorrow is the real exhausting day. Father is going to teach me more stuff about wolf shifters after school.

I close my eyes with a single thought in my head. How can i keep this a secret from my friends?
