"What are you doing?"
Kayon and I separate so fast I thought, for a minute there, that I may be The Flash. Crazy thoughts aside, A furious looking Shawn stands at the door.
"Shawn!" I pronounce, trying to act as natural as possible. Only, Shawn knows me too well and doesn't buy anything. "We were just... it's not-"
"Save it short stack." Shawn smirks jokingly. "I thought this might be happening ."
"Then why would you come in?" Kayon was starting to sound annoyed and, well, not the cool and collected Kayon I know and love. "If you don't mind I'd like to continue my project."
Shawn rose an eyebrow. "Your project? Don't you mean our project. As in the one you and Vivian are suppose to be doing? Look dude, I know it's very tempting when you're alone in a room with a girl as great as my Viv, but seriously. If you touch her one more time I just might have to break your face."
"Shawn!" I'm bewildered. Shawn has always been protective of the ones he's loved, it's who he is. But I've never seen him threaten anyone before. The fact that he did it so calmly too is the most frightening.
Kayon said; "Dude!" as he came between Shawn and me, beginning to look a bit defensive. "Back off. She's not even your girlfriend."
Shawn smirked. "She doesn't have to be my girlfriend to feel protective of her. Vivian is a good person. One that doesn't need to have her heart chewed out by a tool like you."
I have to stop this. But how does one simply stop two, tall, well built, angry, teenage males who want to go at it? Simple answer: one doesn't.
Kayon did a quick teasing lunge at Shawn to try and psych him out. Shawn doesn't even flinch.
Instead, he looks over Kayon, ignoring him, and shoots me a flirty smile. "Good night my sweet Vivian. As much as I'd love to stay and chat, I must be on my way. My people await." He blew me a kiss, which ticked off Kayon (probably the whole point). I shook my head and chuckled lightly as Shawn left my room and headed down the stairs.
"Yeah." Kayon suddenly says. "I should go too."
"You just got here."
He only shrugged before heading out of my room.
I followed him to the front door as he gathered his things and put his shoes on. "Sorry about tonight." I said. "Shawn's just..."
"I get it." Kayon looked me in the eyes. "How about we try this again tomorrow. My house, right after school? I'll walk you."
Smiling from ear to ear, I agree. "Deal."
One more quick smile and Kayon is gone. I shut the door and head back to the kitchen for some juice. Or maybe coffee... nah. Tea. Mint... I deserved it.
"Whew. Glad he's gone."
I stop short of the kitchen and shoot a glare at Shawn. "I thought you were leaving." He throws both hands over his heart like his been shot and his face screws up like he's in pain.
"Ouch, Viv. Right in the feels."
Shaking my head, I push past him to continue my journey for the Mint tea in the far off land of kitchen.
...I need to be less of a nerd. Nah... I'm cool.
"Seriously though," I begin to Shawn. "Why are you still here?"
He shrugs. "Five reasons. One, Who else is going to pulverize Sam in Left 4 Dead? Admit it, you suck. Two, I get free food here. Three, I'm awsome. And four, I got permission to stay the night."
"Whats number five?" The mint tea was on the top shelf. I give Shawn a help me look.
"Number what now?" He jokes as he gets the tea down for me. Curse my shortness!!
Putting the kettle on and fixing up my cup I say; "You said there were five reasons. You only listed four."
"I thought the last one was obvious?" I shoot him a look so he will continue. "I couldn't bare to be apart from my sweet Viv."
"Translation: Vivian! Please spill hot tea on me!"
"Pfft." He scoffs, backing up. "In what language?"
"Mine." A smirk appears on my face as he grabs a cup from the cupboard and puts it infront of him like a sheild. "What good is that going to do you?"
"You mean you don't know?" When I shake my head no he gasps sarcastically. "This is the ancient cup of wonderland! Once used by the mad hatter himself. It's said to have ancient powers that will send crazy, hot tea spilling, girls into the most dreadful parts of wonderland to await eternity!"
Squinting my eyes at him all I can say is, "You're such a nerd."
Shawn puts his head on my shoulder and bats his eyelashes at me. "But I'm your nerd."
