The night raged on as the sound of rain splashing against the pavement. She looked at the sleeping figure that cuddled their 3 month old kitten. His tattoo was peeking out from the blanket, and his hair was a brown mess.

His face and body matured significantly throughout college. She would mock him about how his students will have crushes on him. He would just roll his eyes. She touched the tattoo that she loved.

"I'll be back soon, Sweetie. Then our happy life will resume." Clarence stroked his cheeks before she put the note on the table next to him. She ventured out of their bedroom with a small bag on her shoulders. She took one more look at him before walking out.

She didn't want to do this, but she needed to. She had to face her demons that still haunted her dreams and future. She wanted to have a life with Justin, but she couldn't with the sound of her past behind her.

The rain puddles splashed at her feet as she made her way to the train station. She was only going to be gone a week she tells herself. One week, and she would call him. She will explain when she gets back, and then they can go back to how things were.

"Ticket miss?" The man in the uniform asked. Clarence smiled as she handed him a crinkled ticket. He let her on the train. She took the seat closest to the back.

She told Faith her plan, and she trusted Faith would make sure Justin knows everything. She trusted Faith would keep Justin from showing up. Faith agreed that she needed to do this alone. She had to do this alone if she was going to do it at all.

She looked at the ring with a purple stone and diamonds to the left and right of it.

When Justin woke up the next day, it was from the sun beaming on his face. He looked around his room to find the absence of someone.

"Clare?" His voice called out laced with sleep, "what time is it?"

But he was only met with a kitten meowing.

"Do you know where she is, Tutor?" He pet his small white and black kitten.

"Meow"

"You are right. She probably went shopping." He smiled at his kitten, Tutor, which Charlotte obviously named.

"Meow"  The kitten jumped on top of the nightstand, and pawed the note.

"Let me see." Justin mumbled as he took the note from under Tutor. Justin recognized her handwriting in seconds.

Dear Justin,

I had to leave town for a few days. Don't worry, Faith knows how to contact me if something happens. This is something important for me to do, and I must do it on my own. I will be back for our promise to continue. I love you.

-Forever yours, Clare

P.S. remember to feed Tutor and yourself healthy good.

Such a shame that this day happened almost 6 months ago.
