"Did you have fun?"

Luke looked over at his boyfriend as he pushed the key into the lock, smiling gently and opening the door. "Of course I did. The food was yummy, the movie was amazing and you were wonderful." He hummed a bit and kissed his cheek before entering the house to escape the frosty air.

Jeremy followed after him will a small laugh, continuing to talk about highlights of their night together. Luke felt amazing in the moment. It felt like things were back to normal for the time being. Jeremy had that small sparkle in his eye as he did when they started going out and it made him feel that giddy feeling that he oh so missed. He was trying to be optimistic about it. Hopefully things would stay like this. Hopefully things would go back to the way they were and he could be with is boyfriend without fear and worry.

The aura of peace that seemed to be surrounding him in that moment washed away when he pulled out his phone to be met with four missed calls by Calum. He told himself it was probably nothing but his anxiety fucked with his common sense as it always did. "Babe I'm sorry, let me call Cal real quick. I need to make sure he's okay." Jeremy seemed a bit annoyed but he sighed and smiled with a small nod, kissing the top of the blonds head.

"Alright. I'll go change." Luke smiled softly at the gentle reply and watched him wander back towards the bedroom.

After grabbing himself a glass of water, he jumped up and sat on the counter, long legs swinging slightly out of habit. He quickly pressed the CALL BACK button, sipping his water as he waited patiently for him to pick up. "Hiya, blondie."

Luke let out a soft sigh of relief when he picked up, quickly swallowing his drink. "Hey, Cal. I saw you called earlier. You alright?"

There was a small silence coming from the other end of the line before the dark haired man finally responded. "Oh, that? Nah, I was just bored. I went over to see Mali today and was just wondering if you wanted to come with me. I forgot you were on your date. My bad, I shouldn't have called so many times." A small, unconvincing laugh followed his explanation, making Luke hum softly.

"Don't apologize. I definitely would've went with you if I wasn't busy. Call me as much you want, it's not an inconvenience or anything. You should know by now that I enjoy talking to you." He replied with a cheery tone, sipping more of the icy drink.

Once again, Calum hesitated a reply. It was almost like when someone was carefully sculpting something, trying to make the art as realistic as possible. "Alright, yeah. I will. I'm probably gonna head to bed now. It's been a long day."

"Are you going to be okay?"

"I'm not a child, Luke. I'm fine."

Luke winced internally when hearing the obviously irritated words. In an instant, he felt the food from earlier turn into concrete in his stomach. Everything seemed to set that feeling off these days.
