Description:
The big escape🔱
Waking up in a not familiar place can be scary. But Paul didn't mind.
He realized he wasn't home when he felt his hands and legs tied up.
Looking around only with his eyes, he observed the place he was in. A small room with only one top window. Nothing was decorating the small space, only the mattrass Jesus was laying on. Well, those people who took him weren't as bad as most now.
The room had a little hall attached to it, where you could walk in two directions. Two doors, Paul chuckled softly, they made it way too easy for him.The room was not completely emtpy. A small cookie, a glass of water and a note were laying on the ground next to Paul's head.
There were no shadows of a person to see, standing on guard at his prison cell, so it looked save for Paul to move his body and try to pull himself lose.
With one smooth move he broke the pieces of rope and let it fall on the ground.
When he sat up the scout felt immediately dizzy. He wasn't sure what had happened, but something or someone had definitely knocked him out.
He decided to drink some of the water and taste the cookie. The last time he ate was really early this morning, considering it was dark outside, he didn't know what time it was. Probably around midnight.
The cookie tasted nice and the water luckily normal. If they wanted to kill him, they sure as hell wouldn't do it through potion.
He read the little note.
Don't try anything stupidAgain, Paul chuckled. What the hell were these people thinking?
He kinda remembered what had happened that day.
He met with those two strangers, Rick and Daryl.
They seemed like trouble at first, but looking at how kindly they treated him now, the situation seemed good.
Also the chase through the field with the redneck shot through his mind. He had saved that guy from getting bitten, he could probably ask something back for that. Then everything was a blur, he didn't know what had happened to the truck or the two men. He guessed they brought him unconsious to this place. What was actually nice of them. They could've left him out there. But they didn't.
They seemed like reasonable people, maybe he could get a new trading partner for the Hilltop out of this. After a while of sitting, eating and thinking Paul decided to get up and have a look around.
With two exits and just one guard it was really simple for him to break out. With light feed and quick moves he sneaked around the community he didn't recognize.
It was pretty big, about 20 houses with a big lake in the middle. Jesus was suprised, they even had a church.Impressed he watched the solar panels for a while and how they were installed.
The big suprise was when Paul came stumbling over the pantry. It was stocked with guns and ammo, something he didn't see in a long time. Though, the food was scarce, looking at how many people they had.
Searching for the leaders house, he had to crawl away from people behind some bushes. A man and a women were on patrol in the small town. When they got closer, Paul noticed it was that Daryl guy who had punched him in the face today.
Gosh, how badly he would like to run up to him and punch him back in the face right now. But that would blow everything, so no punching dirty rednecks for today.
"Is Rick already at home or he still at the infirmary? I wanted to discuss something with him actually." The tinted women with a sniper hanging from her shoulder said.
"Nah, said he was tired and wanted to sleep, so I guess you have to wait till tomorrow." The Daryl guy grunted, softer than Paul would've expected.
Shit. The two stopped walking infront of the bush Paul was hiding in.
"Yeah well, I wanted to inform him that Eugene is taking over my shift with Abraham." The women spoke up again.
"Hm-hm."
"I actually don't want to .. but it's better for Eugene, he has to learn how to do these things too, right?" The women sounded a bit concerned, a sense of sadness could be heard in there too.
Paul was good at reading people. When he was younger, he had no idea what to study, so he just started psychology. 2 Years he tried, but it jist wasn't his thing. Though, he got some kind of skills from it."I guess so." Paul noticed how the man would make such short sentences.
It was quite for some time. Paul tried to breath as soft as possible, although that was hard with leaves pricking painfull into his face.
"Daryl .. can I ask you a stupid question?" The more the women talked, the more she became unconvinced of herself.
"Shoot."
"What do you think .. what do you see as happiness?" She blurred out.
"What's that suppose to mean?" Daryl sounded awkward, you could sense he didn't felt comfertable talking about stuff like this.
"I'm thinking .. I don't know if I'm happy like this. I want .. I want more in this life, like a real purpose."
"Yeah?" Daryl seemed to understand. Daryl didn't like to talk about relationships and stuff, he wasn't good at it himself and always felt way to uncomfertable. Though, all the time people seem to come to him with this kinda problems.
"What you think of Abraham? I mean do you think he could .. you know?" The voice of the girl lighted up, it was clear she really meant what she was saying.
"Well knowing Abraham's and Rosita's relationship, yeah I think you just have to give it a change. Nobody is stopping you so." Daryl said just simply.
It was quite.
Jesus wondered what was going on and peeked a bit through the leaves. The women smiled brightly. "Thanks."
"No problem, it's pretty obvious though." Daryl stood awkward with his hands in his pockets as the girl smirked at him.
Paul already liked this guy, he was rough on the outside but had a heard of gold.
