I pull out my phone and dial 911. I tell them I need an ambulance and give them her address. In 5 minutes they come and get her. I jump in my car and follow them to the hospital. I'm forced to wait in the waiting room until they tell me I can go in.
"You're the young man that brought her in?" The doctor asks as we make our way to her room.
"Yes," I reply.
"What is are you to her?" She asks.
"I'm her boyfriend." She nods as she opens the door. She was hooked up to a bunch of machines.
"She fainted because of low blood pressure." She explains.
"That combined with hitting her head pretty hard, she is in a coma." She says. I look up at her in fear. I clear my throat and thank her. She says she's sorry and starts to walk out.
"Wait!" I say turning to her.
"When will she wake up?" I ask.
"Anywhere between tonight and never." She says looking at her charts. I nod and watch as she walks out. I sit in the chair next to Chance and old her hand.
"I love you, Chance," I say looking at her face.
"Please," I whisper over and over again.
"Please wake up Chance." I whisper. I sit there in that chair for hours, whispering little things. Telling her how much she means to me. How I'd be destroyed if she was gone. How seeing her like this tears me apart. And sooner or later I fall asleep, holding her hand.
